Studio One 7.0.1 / 7.0.2 - Discussion Thread

I didn't see this in the release notes (I might have missed it) but there has been a change to selecting notes by velocity, which I'm happy to see.
Great! Missed it either. Thanx for pointing it out!

Hmm, I'm still not convinced by the color adjustments, as can be seen in the screenshots. Probably will need to give it a try as soon as the demo version is released.

VCA- and BUS-Channels are no longer coloured in the mixer. Still coloured in the arrangement. Was this a feature-request or did it happen by accident?

Not this specifically - but I am seeing more weird color disconnects in the mixer and tracks as well.

There is definitely something deeper going on here. Will try and get a couple of examples up here.

Duplicating a instrument track completely no longer works. Can someone test and confirm this?

Duplicating a instrument track works for me in SO Pro 7.0.1.

So, I’ve figured out what’s happening here. When you fully duplicate an instrument that supports Multi-Out, such as Kontakt 8, Halion 7, Impact XT, etc., the channel is not updated. This means the duplicated track is still running on the previous channel. You need to manually re-route it.

This issue only occurs with Multi-Out instruments. With regular instruments that don’t support Multi-Out, there’s no problem. If someone has the time to test this further, I’d really appreciate it.

The easiest way to check this would be to duplicate an Impact XT track. Set the fully duplicated track to solo, and you’ll see that it’s muted in the inspector on the left.

Do you know that this behavior is different from v6?

I was about to say that the visibility, if anything, was worse than before. But I had just moved to a new machine that I hadn't previously installed S1. In that situation, the default for the preference "Draw events translucent (grid shows through)" is off.

Flipped it on, played with the appearance prefs a bit, and I'm good.V7.0.1 visibility copy.png

I do think - in an effort to make the "grid shine through" better - the overall look is now washed out and muted.

S1 needs some major work in the event/waveform display area in general - like it's own editor.

Editing is VERY critical and personal process for almost everyone I would think - and messing around with the display - without any logical point that I can come with for v7 - is a hard thing for me to not take personally.

As I wrote in the old forum, this is something that ProTools does right. They don't use a uniform color through the grid. Instead they customize the grid colors within each event to ensure it's always visible, and changes the grid color when the event is selected. Although I would argue that it isn't particularly pretty (in ProTools that is), it IS clear.

You're right that my settings are a bit washed out, but at least now I can edit comfortably in 7.
