6, 7 & 8. Failed in all three. Should I try it again? I decided to abandon backing up NKI files. No longevity there anyway. I have 100 Cakewalk projects which would take loads of time to do and if I'm never going to be able to reload in a few years (if I choose to) because they release version 10 or 11 why bother? Stupid idea anyway, but thanks for your concern. What version of Kontakt are you using. I don't think you mentioned it once. If its V7 they have just had a major update to this and they have fixed a few issues and also sped up its loading time etc...
I know all that. The problem is backing up the NKI files for the instruments and animator articulations if I ever had a crash and had to reload the whole system or had to buy a new computer (like after next October). The ability to do that has changed. Maybe you don't do that. I would guess not many people do, but I was until I stopped and asked myself why. Why would I need to do that if I have all the song parts from them in WAV files and backed them up (which I do)? But I appreciate your concern. With Kontakt you can install and use multiple versions at the same time. That way you can still use the older libraries associated with the older versions.
You can install and use different major versions of Kontakt, such as Kontakt 7 and Kontakt 8, in the same project without issues. Different major versions are treated as different programs and don't depend on each other. As long as the computer OS allows it of course.

If you replaced your computer and you moved your s1 (or any DAW for that matter)projects to the new one and then tried to reload those projects on the new computer they wouldn't play the same. Of course they would on your current computer unless you had to wipe your drive clean and reload everything. Trust me. I've been there. I had to replace my PC in 2021 and the old ones wouldn't work.Curious why you would back up every single .nki files. Any modification you do in a Kontakt instance is saved in your Studio One .song file, you could just load a .song file later on and resave your .nki file through Kontakt.

I realized it's too impractical to do this. That's why I gave it up.
