Touchscreens

All of the above said, I like the idea of using SSL360 to give me a channel strip on each track, but in Windows it doesn't seem to work - as soon as you click on the SSL360 window, the focus is taken away from S1 and it stops.
As a quick guess, have a look in SO1 settings for something like "release audio in the background", it might be the audio driver is switching from SO1.

Best regards

Also, the transport bar doesn't work - though the SSL360 transport bar will reflect what I do on whatever other control surface I use. It seems to work more or less ok on Mac (I haven't tried that yet but I will) but there's a very annoying bug where pan isn't carried across from S1 to SSL360 and vice versa.
Regarding the transport that needs to be set up in the studio one options. From memory I think you need to add a Mackie Control and set the midi send to SSL V PORT 1. Back in the SSL 360 app in the configuration page you need to select Studio One as your DAW layer. It does work

Yes, that’s all done - it’s no different to a physical controller in that respect, of which (between four local installations of S One) I have several! I’ve found others reporting this issue too. There are more issues - SSL Channel Strip 2 v2, although (like 360) it's added to every channel in this project, only shows on the selected channel - if the plugin is selected in the S1 channel - (as can be seen in the screenshot). And I was surprised to find that Multibus Comp and Flexverb aren't 360 compatible! Add to this that pan and channel level have no connection between 360 and S1 and its usefulness is questionable...

This is still kinda relevant to touchscreens, as I'd love to have the 360 Mix page available on a touch screen

@TimC340
I was having a guess, I do not use SSL 360. It was when you said SO1 stops working and you mentioned it could be a focus issue, I had a shot in the dark.
@daw stew has a far better handle on the SSL 360 setup than I have, maybe he can make some suggestions.

Take care, best regards

Did you run the plugin scan in the SSL link plugin? That will detect all your VST3 plugins (360 doesn't support vst2)
Also I can confirm that channel panning and channel fader do work. Something seems strange that they wouldn't be working properly on your setup

@sintil8 No worries - all inputs gratefully received!

Yes, I followed the process as per SSL’s guide, and found a few YT vids about it too. That’s how I found out that I’m not alone in the panning and fader disconnect!

I’ll try it in a different installation (different computer in a different location) later and see if I get the same issues.

Great stuff, I hope you get it to work properly, it really is a fantastic workflow. When I get the chance I'll hop on my PC and check to see how I have the options configured.

Input another tool you can deploy on a touchscreen.
I notice you use a stream deck. If you have a couple of minutes to spare have a look at a couple of posts about their Beta program.

It's out of beta so it should be available in the Elgato 7.2 download

I'm running Studio One (latest) mainly on Windows 11 with dual screens.
Thinking about replacing one monitor with a touchscreen (Dell P2424HT).

Anybody done something similar and would you care to share your experiences ?
I have been using the older Dell 2240T for a few years. Like it a lot. I have it at an angle above the SSL UC1 and the UF1, funny thing that it has the exact same width as those controllers combines. Running SSL 360 everytime. Works like a charm.

The Dell doesn't get touched much but it is so nice to control the X/Y pads in S1 with a finger instead of a mouse.

Ok, just at my PC. In SSL 360 setup page I have the DAW configuration DAW 1 SSL V MIDI PORTS 1-4 set to Studio One. In Studio One Options External Devices I have a Mackie Control added with the Receive From and Send To both set to SSL V MIDI PORT 1. This is needed to get both software talking. Without it transport won't work.
In the Transport & Hybrid Mode Setup i have the Plugin Mixer Transport and Hybrid Mode linked to Daw 1Studio One. MIDI CC transport linked to us also set to Studio One. I'm running the latest version of 360
V2 0.6
In SSL LINK (the wrapper plugin) where is says PLUGINS at the top right I've set my vst3 folder location to Program Files / Common Files/VST3 so when scanning for plugins Link should find any compatible plugins. It doesn't support VST2, CLAP or AU if you are on Mac. I've got the same settings in the Link Bus Compressor plugin

Those are the exact same settings I have - if my last screenshot had been at a higher resolution, you could probably have seen most of that! Everything I've found tells me I'm set up correctly, but the results disagree. After I've tried it on the studio computer I'll either succeed and be able to see what's different, or I'll fail again and probably hit up SSL support.

Edit to add screenshots...

That looks all good. Have you tried mapping any of your plugins from the list? They have to be manually configured to work. It can be a bit time consuming.

Yes. As I explained in the long post yesterday (where I extolled the relative virtues of Nektarine), I was distinctly unimpressed by SSL's implementation of mapping plugins to the compulsory UC-1 control format. SSL has pre-mapped very few plug-ins, and the mapping process for many plugins makes little sense in that restrictive format. In any case, until I get some semblance of a working SSL360 mixer installation, mapping third-party plugins is a waste of time. I have the SSL suite of Channel Strip 2, MultiBus Comp and Flexverb, and I'll concentrate on getting those working within SSL 360 before I contemplate doing anything else with it!
