Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

Do you have the subscription? Or did you buy these products separately?

Lukas - FWIW - I am on perpetual - and see these same errors all the time.

VP

I've submitted a support ticket at https://my.fender.com/support/ticketdetail/993307. This will be a good, early test of Fender's support prowess
...
I sent in several tickets on this back in the Presonus days...no change unfortunately.

I just learned to live with it as this error will only be seen on a new install - which does not occur more than once if everything is working normally.

I upgraded from 7, and I think I was on perpetual. The dialog said before the process, that it was going to "activate my purchased items", implying that it would a. identify my purchased items an b. activate them. Now it is not clear whether these unactivated items had not been purchased or whether the activation had failed for some other reason.

Same thing here. The installer will run through all 15 of these products, activate the ones you are licensed for and then post an error on the rest.

Here is what I see in v7.2.3

All the checked items are good here. All the "X" post the same error you are seeing

There should be no error at all - you should be able to just install your plugins (4 in my case) and the rest should be ignored.

for LUKAS - I have never had a subscription.

Did you have the subscription in the past (and it ran out)? Otherwise there have to be reasons why you have these products installed in the first place.

I've always avoided subscriptions like the plague, so certainly not knowingly. I've just checked in Studio One 7.2.3 and it shows this, under "Activate Purchased Items"...

It is showing the 11 items that failed to be activated, but the wording of the dialog suggests that the displayed items have been purchased. If they have been purchased, then why on earth can they not be activated?

No, the question is: Did you purchase them?
Lukas - I get this same screen (v6 and v7) . And no I did not purchase them.

Same issue for me as well. i just choose to ignore. and yes i did have a subscription at one time, but no longer.

These are all Fat Channel XT plugins. If you're entitled to them, you can search for them individually in MyFender. On the search result page, you'll see the download link. Alternatively, you should be able to download them from within the PreSonus (Fender?) Hub.

That's just it. I am not entitled to them - but they all still decide it's a good idea to throw an error anyway. Not sure I am understanding the logic.

It is not like I am trying to install something I am not licensed for. What I should see under that Studio One/Studio Pro->Installation menu (and dialog) after logging in - is a listing of ONLY those products I am entitled to. But this is not the case for these oddball FX.

VP

Yes, absolutely. It's crazy to tease you with stuff you don't own or want.

I've been through all of my old emails and there is no mention of my having purchased them. Having said that, I do have an old email from October 2020 which sat "Thank you for registering Studio One Prime!". Could this have been when the mysterious plugins were installed?

In any case I am certain that I do not need any of the 11 plugins. Where in either Studio One 7 or Fender Studio Pro 8 can I see where these names are referenced so that I can delete them once and for all.

@lucas I don't mean to single you out for an answer but since you seem to be a well established Presonus user... πŸ˜‰

A few thoughts . . . :)
Thank you for your very informative post πŸ˜€

I am a new user to what was Studio one when I joined 2 weeks back, totally unaware of them about to change everything.

I have been a Notion 5 user since about 2010 before they became part of Presonus. So, when I baught the Studio One 7+ license getting Notion was a big consideration as it enabled me to read and open projects that was written in Notion. At that time my understanding was that the only way I could get my hands on the Notion software to open those old files was through the subscription, and the assumption was that after after a year I will once again loose that license as the β€œkeep forever” part of the license only applied to the Studio One software, now Fender Studio. Having read through most of the whole thread I think I understood more or less what happens to my Stdio one subscription, i.e. nothing change except I do get all the shiny things that comes with Fender Studio, but nothing about Notion, until page 13 when your post clarified a few things.

If you do not mind, may I ask some more questions please.

Do I understand your post about Notion correctly that all the features in Notion regarding score writing is now integrated with Fender Studio? If so, I should not really need to use Notion for writing new scores and rather do it all in Studio?

Printing would understandingly still be a challenge ?

Can Studio one open legacy Notion files? If not, I assume I should still go through the tedious task of opening all legacy projects in Notion, then transfer them to Studio and save the song files for backup.

This process have proven more than tedious, as it seems like not everything transferred with the file -> transfer to Studio One transferred correctly over, especially any lyrics, chord symbols, text or expression markings.

Although Notion sounds are not as good as Vienna or other pricey software, it surely was good enough for the writing process. Writing score in Studio One however does not have the sounds library of Notion built in and requires a 3rd party Vst instrument library. Is this assumption correct or can I somehow use Notion sounds library in Studio?

I'm a PreSonus user, too, correct πŸ˜‰

But it's possible that this has to be figured out on the backend side. We have to collect feedback and see why these plug-ins are connected to your account.
Lukas - if you can find out why these are connected to mine as well - I would appreciate it.

I found a way of stopping Fender Studio Pro 8 bothering me with these bogus alerts. On macOS, in the folder `/Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/PreSonus/Extensions/presonus.fatchannelplugins.mac` there is a file called `products.json`. First make a backup, then use a text editor to delete the sections that correspond to the unwanted items. On mine, this involved changing...

Nice one.

I am not ready to install 8 for a while yet but will flag this post just the same.
