I've gone back to a flip phone that I use only for security codes. For music listening, I learned in high school to memorize songs to play back in my head while working. There were no mobile phones, mp3 players, etc. Live at Leeds was in my head, along with Cream, Tull, Kinks, Ten Years After, CSN&Y, Zeppelin, Steppenwolf... I tried to practice guitar six hours every day and often didn't hit the mark, but made up for it on the weekends. I would sit back with my eyes closed when taking breaks and listened as carefully as I could. That was all I had for decades.
