Is it really necessary to re-connect bluetooth MIDI devices manually every time on MacOS?

Every time I go to use my MIDI keyboard with S1, I have to run Mac 'Audio MIDI Setup', find the BT device, then click on 'Connect' to get it to work.

Is there not some way of making the device auto-connect to avoid all that?

There is something wrong there. That is not normal. I have got quite a lot of midi hardware connected to my Mac and it is permanently connected every time I use it.

Are any of your devices BT? Do they reconnect even after being switched off?

What do you mean by BT?

OK so no I don't have any Bluetooth devices connected. All my midi hardware is either USB eg my MAudio controller or the synths are all connected via 5 pin connections to the Midi interfaces which are connected via USB. I would not rely on Bluetooth for anything other than audio playback from some audio source occasionally maybe.

Thanks a lot. It works fine for my needs, but just a pain to have to go through 'Audio MIDI Setup' and 'connect' every time it is switched off or the Mac sleeps.

BT automatically disconnects when you power off either the transmitter or receiver (ie: phone connected to your car audio PB system). This is by design. Putting a CPU to 'sleep' turns off all network TX/RC by design.

My bluetooth Apple Magic Keyboard, trackpad, etc. all connect automatically after sleep etc. and the MIDI keyboard also auto-connects to bluetooth and can be seen in the Mac bluetooth devices list.
The issue is that the MIDI keyboard just doesn't show in DAWs until 'connect' is selected in 'Audio MIDI Setup'>'MIDI Studio'>'BT Configuration'>'Connect' and that is a pain.
