Guitar input volume

New to forum and Fender studio...I have my guitar input coming into Win11 through a M-Audio USB interface. It becomes my audio signal into Windows when I plug it (USB) into PC. My guitar and headphones are plugged into the M-Audio interface where i hear both.
In Studio, I can see (and chose) the M-Audio device for input...all good so far.
But when I play my guitar and record, the signal seems to be quite week. I can hear my self playing and recording, but the audio spectrum is barely visible. If I "normalize" it in studio, the audio levels get boasted to much louder levels.

Is this a normal procedure and outcome? I don't see anywhere in studio to adjust incoming signal volume. My volume setting in Windows, under microphone is at 100%.
Thx...john

Welcome to the Forum!

Which M-Audio interface model is it?

Are you using Mic, Line or Instrument level for input?

What preset are you using and have tried adding gain or volume here?

thx for the reply...

I am using the M-Audio, M-Track Solo (has 1 line in for mic, 1 for guitar). I use the Instrument line (guitar) with output direct to PC through USB cable. I can see and hear the guitar sound through my headphones while using Studio, just seems the volume is weak. I have not turned guitar FX on in Studio, but will try that and check volume there and gain too. As a beginning (learning) guitar player, I have yet to explore all the bells & whistles of Studio, just wanna try and play and record over a backing track. thx
