Graphics hardware acceleration issue...

Phil james

New member
Traumatic few days, after getting new pc, and having to transfer licenses , libraries etc,
Opened up studio one. To get the message
Graphics hardware acceleration issue detected
0x887A0006.
Googled it and found to uncheck hardware acceleration ,, but I can't find that anywhere
Any advice
Cheers

Please update your signature (see link and example in mine) with your system specs.
It's hard to respond with any advice without that information.

Try disabling this...

Hi. I don't know if it's because I view this forum
on my phone, but I can not see anybody's signature let alone yours ,or any links

That's (signatures that is) true for me as well, however, if I switch to landscape-orientation instead of portrait, they do appear...

Same here ... at this oint I wonder if it's a 7.2 issue ... I also had it on 7.1.1 but at least it would crash .. now it's so frequent

I have been having this issue for a few weeks now. I've been working with support - lots of going back and forth trying things etc to no avail so far.

I had a session that would crash 100% of the times and made the latest Win11 update (took quite sometime on reboot cos haven't been updating since 1 month as my per usual).
Reopened the same session and worked fine.
Created another session with another video: worked just fine.
Hope that helps buddy

Another thing for Windows users to check is system file integrity.

Run the following command as Administrator...

quick update: after that Windows 11 update I've never ran into any issue with videos. Worked on 3 different sessions with 3 different videos without any problem.

I get these errors to this day in Studio One 5. Contacted support over a year ago I suppose. They blew me off and had zero solutions. Will try to attach some images showing what the problem looks like in Studio One. No rhyme or reason and not repeatable. Sometimes I'll be in Studio One for 4 hours and never get the error. Sometimes I'll get the error after 5 minutes. Sometimes I'll get it after 5 minutes, close SO and re-open and the error won't come back for that session. Other times I'll get the error after 5 minutes, close down Studio one and the error will come right back. As you can see, the error destroys the graphics.

For a discussion on this please see this thread: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/asus-radeon-rx-6600-dual-v2-8g.452190/

TLDR: Nobody knows how to fix it. (see post #6 this thread. Presonus have no idea)

Ironic LOL that it still appears to be happening to people in SO7. Nice going Presonus.

I also get this error on Studio One 5, but it never happens while I'm using the program. It always happens when I've been using it, then leave it open, and switch to another app for a bit. When I switch back, I'll get this error. After the error, if I open a plugin, the stuff that should be in the plugin header is invisible until I mouse over it. This includes the X to close it.

On my system, at least, I have discovered that if I close the mixer before switching away from Studio One, I never get the error. This has been my work-around.

Looks like everybody here is using AMD graphics cards or using their chipset??

So have they been to AMD's website and updated their graphic card drivers?

Graphics card may have a firmware update, if onboard the motherboard there may be a BIOS update.
Do something similar if you are using another manufacturers card.
No issues with my old Nvidia Geforce 1070 here.

Yep, I have tried the latest drivers. As for firmware update...I think so. I basically went full on nuclear mode a year or more ago trying to solve this but got nowhere. Unlike Blockhead in post #11, my error manifests either way. It's not related to any of the quirks he describes. Previously, I was running SO5 on a laptop for some years. All good. About 2 years ago I built this PC. Everything runs smooth as with no graphical errors or glitches...ONLY Studio One suffers. The only time anything goes wrong is when using Studio One. Like I said, I can go hours or entire sessions and not have the error. Other times it will kick in after 5 minutes. I've just had to live with it for a couple of years. I have a feeling that changing my GFX card will fix the issue.

I would check for card firmware update and update your BIOS for good measure.

coro has just found the culprit for his/her graphics problems. It's either the Nahimic audio utility or driver. I always assume that audio and graphics driver problems are somehow connected (HDMI has audio capabilities).

My Nvidia control panel often doesn't open (crashes) after starting windows. I reboot and then the problem is fixed for the day.

I used to check the Windows error log and ignore any Window services errors. These audio driver errors always show up (with matching timestamps!):
CtHdaSvc.exe (belongs to Soundblaster)
SB Recon3D Service (onboard, in use)

Updating my Nvidia drivers for many years never fixed the problem.
Onboard audio drivers usually get abandoned quickly so there's no way I can ever hope to fix it.

Which reminds me, I always disable devices I do not use.
For windows, in device manager disable audio interfaces or graphics cards you do not use.
For me I disable the Nvidia HDMI audio driver and my motherboard display driver. I also make sure the BIOS is set up so my primary display adapter is the Nvidia card.

I would say that just because you've updated drivers before doesn't mean that future updates won't fix issues. They should be kept up to date anyway along with running Windows update.

Firmware updates for the graphics card and BIOS updates for the motherboard could help too.

Will check card firmware and BIOS updates. Coro may or may not be in the clear. Going 3 sessions with no problems for me is common. At some point the issue comes back though. I mean, coro may be golden and hope so...but I can certainly vouch for 3 sessions error free being totally plausible.

Number6 mentions a few things in post #16 I'll have to double check. Thanks, I'll be seeing you.

Hey Cool

another test: new session, new video (OBS screen capture) .... crash...
But...
I've re-rendered the video with Filmora and noticed a prompt where it asked my if I wanted to keep 50fps from the original video or switch to 25fps from Filmora's def settings.
I switched to 25fps. And Studio One didn't crash. Been working on the same sesh for 1 hour no probs.
Prior to this, it would crash 100% of the times and so fast I wasn't even able to save and was forced to create a new sesh each time.

Now, considering a lot of times S1 seems to crash while building the thumbnails, I wonder if FPS could be a thing. Obvs just speculating.

Could you please perform a test and do the same? export the problematic video with 25 FPS and see if it works?

Something specific I've done tho:
- create a new S1 session and save it before importing

Curious to know if ti could be of any help. And I'll be testing more with other vids.

I'll just quickly reply here...I don't do any video stuff in SO and never have. I wouldn't know where to start. I do home recordings/ music. So I won't be able to do any video testing. Sorry coro.

Hey No.6...see the attached screenshot. Of those sound devices listed I only have Realtek (R) Audio disabled. The RME device is my DAW device. SoudID relates to an audio plugin that calibrated headphones. Should I disable the others you think?
