Maybe everyone knows this, but I didn't! The problem was note quantization behaving erratically, and quantizing to the wrong places. The fix was to choose Freeze Quantize before applying additional quantization.
This might not be right place to quantize note start and end. But take a look at this context menu:Another strange quantizing example: note ends can't be quantized at all without quantizing the start positions. The GUI suggests it's possible but it's not.

Let's call it what it actually is: a "forever bug" in the most basic DAW features. S1/SP quantizes notes based on invisible note positions resulting in random changes/behavior the user didn't intend.I guess the lesson is "always Freeze Quantize beforehand". Counterintuitive as that is, it must become the new mantra!
People are so used to longtime bugs that they simply have given up. (Edit: That includes me but I'm usually more bothered by plenty of smaller bugs that almost never get fixed.)... I've really never found quantization ever usable with Studio One.
