Fender Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

There is a lot of moaning around the webs tonight! Some of the comments under the various YT videos describing the new version are crazy! And basically because of the name change. I wonder how many of the malcontents have actually used Studio One/Fender Studio Pro to create anything?

I think they look great. Not sure how someone could think there's anything wrong with them.... have to go back and check 7.2.3...
Yes I went back and forth between 7.2.3 and 8 a few times. I like them too. Small thing but.... ya....

I just did a test) 800 from a Quad Cortex and 800 from an S1 Mustang)_

In my opinion, you can clearly hear how unnatural the Mustang is, it can't breakup, it can't go from clean to high gain
and it generally sounds flat and without dynamics, just like the first generation of Pods)...

Not a bug - this is now by design.

It`s bug - because first double cllick it open channel overview ,, second - mixer channel ... third mixer channel )and mixer channel again )
on second channel it open mixer channel and channel overview under the mixer )) - what a mess

Hard to tell as the Cortex version sounds 10 times louder to be completely fair.

When you login to MyFender, you'll see the option to upgrade your S1 licence for £89. However, there is no need to buy anything if your S1 licence still has time to run. Just install Studio Pro 8 then login to MyFender when prompted and you'll see your S1 licence info is carried over.
Thanks 🙏 I found the upgrade page eventually, even if the steps differed slightly from what you said (possibly because I last upgraded in late 2024), but, nonetheless I now have the option to upgrade for £89.

Problem is that I have to wait for my new card to be delivered, and the shop doesn't take PayPal, AFAICS 😮

The website isn't working properly either. I tried, (just for the giggles), to check out the current upgrade pricing
to Fender Studio Pro 8. I was re-directed to login to My Fender/Presonus account to continue to Fender Shop.
Hit the "continue" button....then perpetual hang.

Trotting out Nile Rodgers to lure me into buying into Fender's corporate ecosystem...wrong! Hey, really great riffs like "Le Freak" 40 years ago and really great production on Bowie's "Let's Dance" aside, in case no one's read any of my posts, I'm concerned with MIDI 2 and playing nice with other companies who actually are in the MIDI Association like Native Instruments and Arturia (neither of whose keyboard controllers current mkIII versions integrate fully with S1, or excuse me, "FSP," years after their introduction)—not how to record my Stratocaster—which I already have six ways to Sunday of doing. That and the new name = total turnoff.

As noted in our long conversations last month. No mention of MIDI 2 and no mention of the NA integration either. Not totally surprised either

MIDI 2 is not a thing for me all all but the NI thing is disappointing - but It's OK. I can wait.

I couldn't give a damn about the name. I do give a damn about my S88 Mk3 not being able to control the DAW beyond very basic features - my old Nektar Panorama T6 does a far, far better job. I am disappointed that Fender have not updated the scripts to take advantage of the Native Instruments v2 firmware for the Kontrol S Mk3s; this would have been a good opportunity to do that. Other features of the new version I do really like, such as the chord arranger ('Scaler 3 lite'!) and the Channel Overview.

Well - seems like the crew had a LOT on the plate - and from what I can see - did a solid job.

While the NI integration is clearly farther down the list - I can see why. Hopefully we see something good later this year.

I'm with you on that!

Apart from the name change, everything feels like a minor update. Pleasant one mostly, but still, minor, especially considering how long we've been waiting.

yeah - tons of bugs and crushes ,,, I was just sitting there playing guitar and Fender Studio Pro crashed to the desktop for no apparent reason.

Stick on 7.2.3
i presume 8.0 - is a sort of beta ....

Yes, in the overall scheme of things it's a frustration, but no more than that - I have several ways of controlling the DAW. But it is galling to see how well the Panorama does it at around a third of the price of the S88!

OK, well we'll agree to disagree on that. I love the GTX 50 and having the presets in Studio Pro is a huge boon for me.

Yeah, we will have to disagree. IMHO, the Mustang amps sound like angry bees in a coke can compared to all the
aforementioned modelers/profilers. Even Fender's own Tonemaster pedal sounds light years better than the
Mustang series. They remind me of a PodXT....all hiss and fizz. Too bad Fender didn't throw us a REAL bone for
the new Fender Studio Pro 8....Like say....a native Tonemaster plugin. That might make the upgrade worthwhile.

It might also attract users of the Tonemaster pedal to buy into Studio Pro. Line 6 Helix Native is very much appreciated
by owners of Helix pedalboards.

I don't understand why so many people are having crashes. I've already taken two of my session files from 7.2.3 brought them into 8, mixed and mastered them both with no issues at all. I use TONS of VST and VSTi's. No issues whatsoever.

As far as the Fader Caps....I think they are cool...they look just like the faderport.

Keep in mind guys....even though it is branded "Fender", it's the SAME TEAM working on this that worked on previous builds. It's not like Fender is pulling anything over on us.

Did most of you read the release notes before installing? You'll see that there were quite a few changes, such as the way your VST effects open in the mixer window now with only a single click instead of a double click. The doubleclick now opens the "mini" view. This has taken me a while to get used to, but I actually like that better.

The only thing I wish they'd do...and I know that many people have suggested this in the past....please provide the ability to modify mouse settings. Every DAW I know of has this capability. With all the amazing Keyboard shortcuts provided, you'd think they'd allow us to customize the mouse as well. What's up with that?
