Fender Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

Does anybody have a link to the release notes mentioned by Ari above? I’ve had a look at the videos from Gregor and Lukas and also the product page and I couldn’t be less interested in this. But maybe there are some useful changes which haven’t made it to the headlines so I’d be curious to see the list.

They are linked several times in the various threads, including in Ari's original post in this one!

After watching several videos to the new Fender Studio Pro 8, I have to agree completely to the cons from the audiofanzine.com review posted above:

No really acttrative new features in this version...

As I expected before, this not a major update! Personally, I feel fooled for this. For me, this is like a small update to version 7.3 or maybe to 7.4 nothing more. It's not worth mentioning, and therefor it should represent as a free expansion and as a nice welcome goody from Fender. There is nothing more to say about it.

That tears it. I'm done. This feels to much like the Gibson/Cakewalk wedding. As another longtime user said:

That aggressive Fender branding is not going to go over well with long-time Studio One users.
They should have kept the 'Studio One' name, and simply added "by Fender".

Yamaha acquired Steinberg/Cubase, but were intelligent enough NOT to rename it 'Yamaha Cubase Studio'.

It's not going over well with THIS longtime PRESONUS Studio One user. I used to work for Presonus. Been using Studio One from day one. I was even involved with it's ancestor Kristal Audio Engine. I'll continue to use PRESONUS Studio One V6.4 for the time being but it's time to find another DAW that's worthy of my trust. As was mentioned above Yamaha has been a far more responsible shepherd of the Steinberg brand and Cubase. I was a long time Cubase/Nuendo user before I became involved with Presonus. Maybe it's time to revisit Cubendo land. Back in the day Presonus and its users were almost like an extended family.

The writing's been on the wall for some time. I knew when they shut down the official company Presonus forums it was going south.

Ok, just read the release notes (I didn’t see Ari had attached them to his post) and am now much more confident in saying that this offers me nothing and I’ll stick to v6.

It’s disappointing but not unexpected since Fender have totally abandoned people like me in recent versions. That’s their choice obviously but I just hope v6 keeps working for a very long time as I probably will move away from this DAW when that breaks.

So, is this completely separate to Studio One? If we buy an upgrade (for 12 month updates) will it extend for 12 months from our current S1 expiry? In my case that's March 2026

Come on, those mixer fader caps are awful.
Not really „awful“, but I get your point. what I really like is the new 3d look of the buttons and the bright blue focus color.

With a perpetual license you get all updates for a year, so if you bought it 1-11.9 months ago you're eligible for a free upgrade to Fender Studio Pro 8.

Thanks, but what I mean is that when we bought an upgrade to S1, it would extend the current licence by 12 months. For example, if one bought an upgrade licence in October 2024, and the current licence ended in March 2025, the new upgrade would add 12 months to the end, i.e. March 2026. That's where I am.
So, will buying a Fender Studio Pro 12 month upgrade extend the existing S1 by 12 months, or start afresh?

I don’t think that’s a v8 issue. I bet you would get the same error message with v7. My assumption: the code for the batch converter is integral part of the core application now, and not an external tool. So there must be another option to open the batch converter in v8.

Considering the hardware/OS requirements have gone up compared to Studio One 7 the changes can't be superficial only.

You lost an icon on the header bar, that's all. It's the fifth item down in the Studio Pro menu in v8.

No. The installer you're showing is for very old versions of Studio One - probably version 3 or 4. You don't have to download Audio Batch Converter. It's already part of the program - since v6 or longer.
