Fender Studio Pro 8.1 - Discussion Thread

Anyone noticing that the tempo is messed up in 8.1? My project plays fine in 8.03 but goes haywire in 8.1.

EDIT: I think it's a matter of something related to timestretching working slightly differently now. I need to look into it further.
From 10 trys i only can load once a project in 8.1 whitout loosing my audio device and the tabs on the left ( datei, ansicht, fenster, bearbeiten and so on) and the inspector. The whole version is totally bugged ans unusable. I really wonder who tested this and why its beeing promoted. Had to rollback to 8.0.3 which is working but has awful performance and lags like a videogame running with fps 10. Somethings wrong with 8.

The new metronome function is how it should have been from v1. The "musical" metronome (as fender calls it) is the most common way people learn about rhythm. It's not just an academic thing, it's cultural.

In this system time is divided by pulse, not by beats. You can choose to divide said pulse in a binary or a ternary (compound) manner, but the pulse (and therefore the bpm) stays the same. On a binary x/4 metric pulse and beat are the same, but this is not the case with ternary x/8 metrics, in which a pulse is a dotted black because each pulse contains three divisions instead of two (a black note corresponds to a pulse or 1/4th of a 4/4 measure but in a compound metric it's value is two thirds of a pulse, hence the dot). So, if your bpm is 100 on 4/4 and you change the metric to 12/8 while setting the pulse as a dotted black note the bpm won't change.

The previous mathematical metronome is till there anyway, it's not like fender removed it, you just need to set the beat to a straight 1/8th note when working on an x/8 metric.

I can't really follow this explanation but hopefully @parityflux can.

Set a metronome to whatever bpm.

- Divide each beat in two. Congratulations, you have a binary measure. (x/4)
- Now keep the metronome going and instead of dividing each beat in two divide it in three notes. Congratulations, you have a ternary measure (x/8).

Just discovered another bug. Previously, when exporting stems (prefixes for filenames), you could leave the name completely blank, so the files would only contain the track name. Now, you always have to enter something in the prefix field. And the prefix is always included in the filename. I'd like to leave it blank, which is no longer possible.

OK I feel better now about it and will go forward in earnest. I really appreciate the explanation and have taken it to heart. If something about it throws me off as I work, I will report back. I do remember thinking that I wish when I went to /8 the metronome's subdivision click would engage. I usually have it off unless I need that audible detail. Kudos though, really 👏

This will be fixed/improved in the next update.

Good day everybody.
My first post here.
Is there anyway in the settings to limit the Pitch curve range? Say +/- 6 semitones.
Is it possible to correct global pitch in %?
Some of the old songs I have were recorded from tape, do not get to correct pitch.
I would like to correct to a standard pitch.
Thank you for any advise.

The bug with Melodyne with ARA, using the fades, or crossfades still persists sometimes. It gives a lot of clicks and cuts the audio.
A workaround for now is to change the fades curve and the fade time... :(

As my "perpetual" licence requires me to pay to get 8.1, can anyone comment on this from the changelog :

[macOS] Certain 3rd party plug-ins suffer GUI lag

I've had terrible problems with frozen GUI on some plugins, probably since v6. Worst offender is Slate Trigger2. If I turn off graphics hardware acceleration, the GUI moves again, but the refresh rate across all devices and the mixer really suffers.

Can anyone confirm they've noticed any difference? I'm definitely not paying £90 to find out it doesn't fix the issue, and I sure as hell have zero interest in any of the AI stuff.
I had problems especially with plugins from NI and Arturia since Version 5 (that's when I started using StudioOne after a short period with Version 2.x) : The GUI on most NI Plugins was practically unusable while playback and the meters on the Arturia plugins (compressors) always lagged.
This is finally solved with 8.1without the need for any workarounds. For me the most relevant change in this Update. I don't know about Slate, because I'm not using it.

I don`t receive this error window. It does`nt shopw up. Here I stay in the Start Screen which we see is in your background. Once i click on the Song File again it opens but half of the Menu on the top left is missing then ( you know Menu: Datei, Bearbeiten, Session, Spur, Event, Audio, Transport, Ansicht, Studio Pro, Hilfe) and i have no Audio Device. I managed after try and error to get back but that only worked for 1 time. As soon as you trying to load your Audo Device FSP8 will crash or it will crash if you turn off PluginNap.

I was looking in the net for people having the same bug and i found some entrys. So it`s not true that there no people having this issue. I`m sure it`s a Windows relaeted bug or happens only to people with smaller Projects.

I think I found a problem that broke everything for me, it’s Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~26100.8655.1.20, damn Windows update, and the most unpleasant thing is that it can’t be removed using standard tools, I’ll have to restore the system from an image from a month ago

I confirm Windows 11 Security Update / Cumulative Rollup Fix 26100.86, it broke all my work with the DAW, caused a lot of problems with the audio driver rme, ilok, and s1 itself, freezes, abnormal driver behavior and hard freezes, be careful..

After rolling the system back a month, everything was cured, this update itself cannot be removed after installing it

My last Windows update was a year ago. I guess that's both good and bad.

this is my stupidity, automatic updates are prohibited in my windows, and last week I thought “I haven’t installed an update for a long time,” and I created problems for myself ((((

Are you going to create a ticket at Fender telling them what`s wrong?
