What version of Moises do we get as a free trial

I have got a slight situation here. I have got two tracks. One is sax and the other is trumpet. Both recorded at once but mainly separate. There is an old drum part very quietly spilling onto both those tracks. Not bad but there. I am doing new drum parts.

I tried using Moises to separate the sax out from the drums and it did a fantastic job. Sax is there but no drums what so ever. But on the trumpet track, Moises kills the drums OK but also the trumpet and it separates the sax out again leaving no trumpet. (I am selecting Wind in the separation options) So its not smart enough to know to keep the trumpet and kill everything else.

Are we on the prime version as a trial. Maybe I need to upgrade to a higher level so it can do this. Or maybe it just cant do it for some reason. Trumpet is quite a different sound and an octave higher also. Sax is very quiet on the trumpet track also. And yet it kills the trumpet and pulls the sax out beautifully. But the sax tracks do that anyway.

Option is also to re record the trumpet parts.

Update looks like we are on the Pro version for the free trial. So maybe its just not smart enough to separate out the trumpet part. Can you specify what the 'Other' option is going to be eg tell it separate out a trumpet part.

How do you ask the Moises people a question. Does not seem obvious or even possible to me.

Further Update

Did a test with LALAL.AI and it separated the trumpet out perfectly so it is obviously superior.

That takes me to a screen that wants me to confirm my email address. Which I think it already knows. Even if I click on the link to send me a confirmation email, that never arrives so I am stuck on that screen and cannot get any further. I am logged in to my accounbt by the looks but when I click on support it takes me to that screen again so its sort of stuck in a loop.

My Moises trial expires tomorrow. I might just stick with LALAL.AI anyway and just get a months sub when I need to do some stem separation which is not very often.

Yes, you need to be logged into your account with them to get support. Click your avatar and click 'Get Support'.

Yes I get that and when I click on that as I said above, I get transferred to a screen that wants me to confirm my email address. No support. It wants me send to a link to my email address but when I click that, the link never arrives. I am stuck on that screen. So I cannot contact them at all to tell them what is going wrong.

They are useless. How do you get a message to them to tell them you cant get any support? I have found another email to contact them so see what happens. Still not impressed though. Besides it could not separate a simple trumpet out from a quiet spill drum track. But Lalal.Ai managed to do it perfectly.

This is just one of the reasons I don't and won't use Moises. I tried them all, and finally settled on a perpetual license for Song Master Pro. Stem separation is just one of the useful things that it does. I do NOT need it loaded native inside of Studio Pro.

It is cool that you can do it all from a session with Moises but currently I am having an issue even contacting them and that is not great. Also I have discovered though that Lalal.Ai has done certain stem separations much better than Moises. It's not that hard to upload a file to a different site and then get the separated stems back and put tham back into your session.

Sorry to highjack the thread slightly, but I have a Moises question ... how much does it cost through FSP once the trial ends? One of the FSP videos suggests you get a better deal than a direct subscription. Is there a chart or table on how the pay-for-Moises thing works?

I think that's exactly to the point. What did we get, what options do we have now, and what options do we have when our subscription to Pro+ runs out? Do we get a discount as FSP8 users? I haven't even tried Moises solely because I don't know the answers to these questions.

Yes, there is a {small) discount for FSP users with Moises. The regular Premium account is $39.99 a year. If you have signed up to the FSP free account, you will then qualify for the discount which brings it down to $35.99. You must get this by logging in to the Moises website with the same details you log in to FSP with.

It's easy to read those plan costs incorrectly. In your US dollars normally Premium is $7.58/month or $90 yearly. If you pay monthly that is. If you pay yearly then it comes down to $53 yearly. The top tier pro version is very expensive at $38 month which is $456 yearly if you pay monthly or $22 month or $264 if you pay yearly.

Now they are offering cheaper rates as an introductory offer but that will only be once I guess. And I am not factoring the Fender Studio discount here either. Although I am logged in using my Fender credentials so these prices may represent the Fender discount. It would be fine if you used it a lot say on Premium but if you don't use it very much it adds up. It also depends whether you want stem generation also. But that is another story. Like most of us here I prefer to generate the other parts myself.

With Lalal.Ai you can just sign in for a month only if you want. If you were doing a mix (of someone else's tracking) that needed a bunch of stem separations then that is the better option. But then again I listen to the tracks before I go ahead and if I hear a lot of spill on tracks I would more than likely not do the mix anyway. You can test a stem separation also with Lalal.AI for no cost. Moises still could not pull the trumpet out from a track that had a loud trumpet on it and very soft sax and drum spill. It pulled the sax out for some reason. Lalal.AI as I mentioned before managed it perfectly so it must be smarter.

The prices I quoted are what was quoted to me. The non-FSP Premium subscription I can definitely vouch for as it’s what I pay; I’ve had it over a year and only renewed a day or two before 8.1 came out!

The prices that I have quoted are what I am seeing here in Australia. I converted the AU dollars back to US dollars for the purposes of my post. I am not seeing the rates you have quoted anywhere. Maybe they are charging us more in Australia. Not great if that is the case.

Ok, this is the AI response to 'what are the Moises subscription rates for a Fender Studio Pro user?'

I'm in UK, so the prices aren't exactly the same, but they're not far off. Note the difference in the free benefits for the FSP registered user (above) from those for the regular free user (below). These prices below are for the non-FSP user:

I bought my subscription through Apple on my phone, so I pay the US price of $39.99 (with no extra taxes).

Thanks Tim, exactly what I needed to know. Cheers.

I've used Moise 3 times in FSP version 8.1.x.
I've not used it in the last 3 weeks, so it'll expire and I'll be on the Free version, which should be fine.
Note: I didn't notice any difference in the Stem quality with Moise vs using "Stem Separation" in PS1 version 7.2.3.

LALAL.AI has its own app now. So you get the convenience of doing it all from your DAW arrange window as per Moises. You dont have to be locked into the Moises option within Studio Pro at all.

Plugin is a good idea but it is only in their Pro subscription.
I'm still waiting for a stem separator that can isolate solo brass (and other less common instruments like tin whistle!) SpectraLayers is about the best at that but it's still not great.

As for Moises, I tried it briefly then put it back on the dusty shelf of stuff I probably won't use again.
