Waiting for SO 7 update news

I think this is a Newsletter because it is clearly stated "unsubscribe"
I also remember receiving unregularly news about e.g. new Eris Speaker etc.

I’m sure that’s the case, but I don’t generally unsubscribe from newsletters about stuff I’ve bought into, and as far as I can see I’ve never received a newsletter - unlike many, my email records are very organised and tidy (obviously got too much time on my hands). I can’t see anywhere on the mypresonus website to subscribe to a newsletter, though there may be one on the parent site. It just struck me as odd, now that I look, that the only email I’ve ever received was a ‘Welcome to PreSonus’ stock email when I first bought a Studio 26C and got Studio One V4 Prime.

I'm in the same situation, no emails. You have to go and ferret around in Presonus (or Fender) web sites, unless both VP and Sutajio_Ichi received emails.
I feel like I might be missing out on important info. Oh well such is life.

Kindest regards

Hmm. A search of my email accounts (including spam) reveals that the last time I received an email from PreSonus (other than tech support) was in 2020, despite having purchased various software and hardware many times since then!
Been with Presonus since 2011 - I cannot recall getting an email from Presonus since well before the pandemic. Easily a half dozen years.

And - I have been up and down my "official" (MyPresonus) profile - and have never received a news letter, a blurb or anything...and cannot find anywhere to say I'd like a newsletter either.

VP

Glad it's not just me!

I've just learned that Fender has a new CEO, due to take post in February. Hopefully this one will be more kindly disposed towards the 'complex' software which so distressed the outgoing guy.

I'm holding out for good news from NAMM...

Presonus has never done anything S1 specific at NAMM in all my time with S1.

I actually think Jan 13 will be the interesting day for us.

It’s a Tuesday too.

I don't remember ever getting newsletters or anything else from PreSonus. Not that I mind :)

No, I think the non-communication status has become a bit of a PreSonus signature move! However, clearly some people are receiving some sort of communication.

Such an easy thing to address - yet so difficult for them to put in motion. Comms are key - in measured amounts.

I agree. Communication is absolutely fundamental in establishing a relationship with your customer base, but it seems PreSonus don’t want that. That must be a deliberate choice, though I’m struggling to see the justification for it.

Well - I love my Fender guitars and have never received an email from them either.

Some companies simply do not see a need.

Yes, I was a repeat customer of Traveler guitars until Fender took them over. I’d had a fairly conversational relationship with Traveler before the transition, but never heard from them afterwards.

is this a calculated guess or are you reading tea leaves ( or the coffee dregs ) for a hobby.
You spiked my curiosity to ask what's the rational for Tuesday... are updates a Tuesday SO1 thing...?

Roll up roll up, place your bets...🎠🎠🎠 First Tuesday in February my bet

Best of regards folks

I'm sticking to my prediction that the lack of communication is due to a major change, even though I have zero idea what it might be (and I pray that I don't have to redo all the tips book's screenshots again because they've changed the UI!!!). Consider that:

  • Fender hadn't exhibited at NAMM for years, but resumed in 2025 and will be at NAMM 2026 with PreSonus. So they might be back on track with the "release things at NAMM" mindset, and want to fire as much new product ammo as possible.
  • Studio One Pro 7 is a finalist for a 2026 NAMM TEC Award and PreSonus has been actively promoting that on Instagram. It would be embarrassing if they win and nobody is there to pick up the award
  • Guitar Center specifically mentions Fender in their "First Look at What's Coming from NAMM 2026," but mentions only two other guitar companies (Epiphone and Jackson).

As a recovering CMO, I would release the next version a few days before NAMM for maximum shock value, as opposed to releasing it during the show itself, where the signal-to-noise ratio isn't as good. I wouldn't release it on the Friday before NAMM. Friday is when you release things where you don't want much attention (the government buries unfavorable news this way, like bad stats on the economy or whatever). The show starts officially on 1/20, which is a Tuesday. If Studio One releases have an affinity for Tuesday, 1/20 would line up. If it was up to me, I'd release it on Monday, because everyone will be travelling to the show and checking their phones for news while sitting around grounded by their flight delays :ROFLMAO:

If you do the math - Presonus overwhelmingly chooses Tuesdays for releases. There have been a few deviations over the years - but this day is the favorite by far.

I sense something in the wind due to Jan 13 being the switch to MyFender - however now that I think a bit more about it - that could be the only thing going on that day. Perhaps throwing a release into the mix as well as this switch - might be a bit much.

That said - we are long overdue for a decent update - and this Tuesday may just be the magic day....tick tock...

I like Craig's logic!

I also feel that the current hiatus is likely to presage a fairly major announcement, and I don't think for a minute it's the closure or renaming of PreSonus. As far as I can recall, the only brand that Fender have actually killed off over the years was Tacoma in 2008, and I suspect that was because they couldn't find a buyer in that dire economic climate prevalent at the time. For all the doom and gloom in the news, US and European economies are doing reasonably well atm (especially if you're a shareholder - and if you have a pension, you are) so I remain optimistic. My biggest fear is that they'll go chasing the Suno/Ace Studio/insert-other-AI-daemon-software-here market in some way. It's probably too much to hope that they'll ignore the AI hype, but I hope that they keep it at a low (and avoidable) level.

Hey Craig, I overheard Eric Valentine on one of his videos talking about how AES has seen a crazy decline in attendance after he went to this last one...

What have you noticed in that area with NAMM attendance?

What have you noticed in that area with NAMM attendance?

The highest attendance ever was the 2020 pre-covid show, which was 115,000 people. This year 75,000 attendees are expected. That's what a typically well-attended show had in the years leading up to the pre-covid peaks.

NAMM navigated the covid disruption extremely well. Musickmesse died from it, and even MIDEM wasn't immune. The people running NAMM kept costs down while improving the overall experience. I don't think they get the substantial amount of credit they deserve for doing a very difficult job, because they made it look easy.

I'll be doing three presentations/seminars at the show, and two of them are free. Maybe some Studio One forum people will show up! For info, see the Upcoming Personal Appearances section of the craiganderton.org home page.

You don't find the Jan 13 rebranding of MyPresonus to MyFender - blatant enough in the "renaming" department?

It has been very clear (to me anyway) that Fender bought Presonus for their hardware - and only for the hardware and any extraneous business lines like Studio One will be promptly rebranded and the old company name retired.

This has been in the making since Nov 2021 and is finally coming to fruition. By Jan 14 - we will be in a different world.
