Unable to resize stock plugins (OSX)

As I mentioned above, this is exactly what Plugin Alliance has done to their entire Brainworx range, so it's not impossible or unjustifiable economically.

Well - PA is part of the chaos going on over at NI - so this is not surprising.

And yes - of course we all know it can be done - it is simply something that is rarely done. This is a huge win - but a rare one.

Just too bad that I do not use their plugins :)

The stock plugins are not re-scalable. On my 4K monitor on the Mac I have a lot of resolution options. 4K is a bit small for me. I am quite close to my 28"monitor. I find the 2560 x 1440 res is nice for me. It still looks very sharp but is a great general overall size. Stock plugins open to a nice size. The one up from there is also nice too. eg 3008 x 1692. Its wise to experiment with res settings and get it just the way you like it.

Is the UI using bitmaps instead of vector graphics for the UI though? Hard to tell offhand without going digging. I wouldn't be surprised if it was already using vectors, especially for the stock plugins.

You may be right. That was an assumption on my part.

Well if that's true that's an improvement that should be made. All user interfaces should really be scalable nowadays, it's 2026 not 2016.

I don't use stock plugins that often.
yess +1

Some may, some may not. The Level Meter and the Phase Meter for example are already fully manual resizable, but I assume that's mainly because they got used in very different parts of the software. But also widget/windows resizability is a bit inconsistent overall.
Some plugin developer offer a scalable UI if they use a lot of textures and some offers free resize options, in my personal opinion, I can live without rusty screws, old tolex, perfect light reflextions and unnecessary stuff like that if the UI is user friendly. :)

True, even if using bitmaps, a scale option would be fine and the bitmaps can be dynamically sized according to the scale percentage for example.

NI tried this with Massive - the UI looks horrible when scaled - blurry and generally worse than simply leaving it as it was.

No such thing as smooth scaling a bitmap from 2004.

But I guess if the UI is tiny on a high res screen - being able to see it outweighs the blur factor.

Depends if you're trying to upscale or downscale the bitmaps really. If they have hi-res sources, those could be used to target 5k resolutions, and everything else is simply smaller (in filesize) from there. Should be doable with the more graphic intensive plugins as they recently gave them a makeover anyways.

Pretty sure they made no attempt to change anything or even try to use new graphics.

It is the same old circa 2004 bitmaps - just being scaled up and blurrier.

Analog Delay for example.
Do you mean within Studio Pro?

I was talking about NI and the Massive bitmaps in it's UI.

But yes - there are slight updates to the graphics within the SP stock plugins to ensure that Fender logo got it's debut. Still not resizable or scalable however.

Yes some do it quick and dirty and some do it well. Neural DSP for example has a good resizing with re-rendering of the fonts. Soundtoys is a bit old-school but works. Baby Audio and others have a different UI concept and less problems with textures. If I remember correct, UAD, SSL, most of the PA stuff have scaling factors which looks nice. Fabfilter is Fabfilter when it comes to UIs. Even plugin dinosaurs like Sonnox or McDSP have implemented resizing. ;)
