Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

When I look at the icon on my Mac, its hard to even see the "pro" underneath the "Fender Studio". When I put the mouse over the icon, it pops up as "Studio Pro 8". This subconsciously tells my brain that the main way to identify this program is "Fender Studio" (which is also weird considering it could be considered "Studio One 8" but that conflicts with the icon popup label) Its fine to be pedantic, but it might be more beneficial to relay this info to the actual company. (I use an M1 Pro if you want to test the icon on the taskbar for yourself)
On a Mac, in the top left corner of the app, the title says ‘Studio Pro’. The text under the icon says ‘Studio Pro’. As I said, ‘Fender Studio’ is a completely different app altogether.

I really don’t think this rebrand is a difficult concept. We never referred to Studio One as ‘PreSonus Studio One’ and we won’t refer to this one as ‘Fender Studio Pro’. It was simply ‘Studio One’ and it should now be simply ‘Studio Pro’.

It’s correct to point out that Fender Studio is a different (free) app. It’s rather good that they’ve reintroduced a free layer, and the fact that it’s available on mobile and tablets is excellent - and it works really well as a sketchpad which interfaces seamlessly with the Pro app.

As I say, once the bugs have been squashed I think people will begin to realise that this has been a positive move.

Yep, and it’s similar to Apple’s GarageBand/Logic Pro setup.

That being said, since there are people here who are directly involved with PreSonus/Fender, I was wondering if you had anything to say.
As far as I can tell, that person was working in the U.S. and had nothing to do with the development team, but it’s still a bit worrying, to say the least.

If I'm not mistaken, Gregory said in a video that the team had remained and is working to give continuity to the development of Fender studio

Gregor was referring to the development team in Hamburg. Not anyone else who has every worked for Presonus.

The dev team remains intact.

Doubtful that anyone from any other Presonus department would post here about inside stuff.

Talking about what "NONE of these decisions" which decisions, it would be helpful if there was some context?

Kindest of regards

Yes, I agree and that's basically what I had in mind. I don't expect Lukas or Ari to tell me that they have no idea what this guy is talking about and everything's fine, but I'd also be stupid not to ask.

They are usually willing to share some insight, so why not ask?

Haven't seen an M&A yet where someone is not trying to protect their little part of their former world.

Reality is - change is hard. New owners, new rules, new vibe. You can either join the party or look elsewhere.

It was pretty clear from that "insiders" post that he was not ready to cede his territory.

In my experience - having gone through two of these BIG upheavals - if ever there was a time to keep your attitude in check - it is this time.

You might be wondering, but you wouldn't get an answer and why should you? This is the type of path that would lead to locking this thread. There's no need to prod when what's done is done.

The few employees in these parts are contributors to a good cause. Making this DAW as good as it can be.

Some of us have other ideas of how that should have went, but that's another discussion.

Someone explained the situation on VI-Control anyway, so yes, there is indeed no need to continue on the subject.

If you want to overdose on the branding  🥲:devilish:

We have an updated manual ?

Best of regards

The irony is they've inserted the word "pro" into the name of software embraced by so many hobbyists. That word alone might scare off customers concerned the program may be too complex for them or too powerful for their needs.

I'm sure Jesus would approve :)

It's not so much the concept of virtual guitars is new to me, more like ones played through amp sims. I would have thought the samples already came treated or there was provision within the app.
Ah. Yeah, I play the Impact Soundworks ones through separate amp sims. I don't like the amps they come with. The Native Instruments ones have decent ones, BUT, they are based on the amp sims they already make, like Guitar Rig, etc.

One other little change/update I noticed was that the "Studio One RC" Android app was updated with the Fender logo and is now called "Studio Pro RC". Nice attention to detail!

Anybody else experiencing plugins sometimes not having any effect on audio, as if they were not inserted at all?
Seen it now with TBT Kirchoff EQ & PSP Chamber, especially when added via FX Chains made in v7 and when opening v7-songs.

Unfortunately, this has been an issue since before v8. I think it has to do with Dropout protection. Turn it off and see if that fixes it. ALSO, if you do have it on, the tracks that aren't playing...make sure they aren't being monitored. Turn off the monitoring. For some reason, that makes them not work sometimes for me.

BUT, I usually just turn Dropout off.

So the fact that it was 'Studio One Pro' for the last several versions of the program didn't count, but put 'Fender' in front of it and it becomes intimidating?

Pretty sure it was this one:

Ah yes....the one where he pronounces Hue like Huey! While this video is great, the "Advanced" bit he discusses is no longer relevant. The option he has you check is now automatic. No more option to check it or uncheck it. It just shines the grid through events now, period.

All this conjecture and hand wringing reminds me of when Apple bought Emagic/Logic. The same outcries, anger filled posts and predictions of disaster occurred. After the smoke cleared the reality was that Logic did change, in some ways for the better and in some ways for the worst for us long term Emagic customers. But in the long term, everything worked out OK. In reality, nothing we say or do is going to change anything…Fender is going to do what they think is best since they own Presonus…we will just have to go with the flow and make the best of the changes…or move on to another DAW.

While the vid was good - doesn't help for us cats without Pro+. Can't download his color palette presets anyway...
