This all began back when some guy made a scripted toolbar when nobody even knew that was possible in Studio One. Among other things, it added something useful that Studio One still doesn't have at version 8, a MIDI event list. He probably did some reverse engineering because there was not (and still is not) any widespread public information about their script interface.
I'm pretty sure the developers were aware of it because it was discussed all over the place, but still no event list in the product. Developers have their own priorities and without knowing or seeing the entire landscape of a business, we can't really judge those priorities.
All of that is just to say is we should be grateful that the original guy opened that door, and also that the company supports Lukas doing it officially. As far as I'm aware, he's literally the only authorized third party script developer.
