Yes - I understand the Access Keys AND Windows menu design standards - however it is much quicker to simply hit CTRL-W to close a session in Studio One/Pro.
It certainly is. I had reassigned Ctrl-W to something else, but I'm setting it back to the original. It takes care of the immediate situation.
One reason that I'm gung-ho about access keys is for people who have difficulty using a mouse full-time. I used to require pivoting forearm supports to use a computer. My right thumb was temporarily immobilized with a plastic brace while working. I had monthly injections of cortisone into my joints.
Access keys gave me quick, easy access (pun intended) to almost every menu with minimum motion. Popup menus could be raised on compliant applications using a single key. I used a trackball to maneuver the mouse pointer. I also used shortcuts, of course, but it would be difficult to assign them to every menu command, let alone remember them all.
That was a long time ago. Thanks to modern medicine, you could not even tell just looking at me. My neck has two titanium rods and plates and a dozen screws. My bones are brittle from years of steroids, but I'm still kicking. And as long as I'm here, I'm going to make music.
Another reason is simply for quick execution of commands. FSP is great for lightning fast operations using a mouse. And I really like the look and feel of the interface. I've worked on projects that ranged from solo to tens, hundreds, and ultimately even thousands of engineers. But I marvel at the amount of work accomplished by the small number of developers, testers, and documentation people who put together S1 and FSP.
We do seem to live in a very special time and place. Best of times, worst of times.... Anyway, thanks for the discussion, VP, and take care.
Luv to all. - s
