RAM usage and Studio One

Do you have a seperate graphics card, or are you using the 9950x on board graphics ?

If you have a graphics card, remove it and plug your monitor into the on board (motherboard) video/HDMI port. Disconnect any USB devices (audio interface, printer etc) exept your keyboard, mouse and monitor and power. See if it will boot. If not,
shut it down (hold in the power button until it shuts down) Pull the RAM and re-seat it. Then try it.

Note: The 9950x is quite new. If the BIOS was/is not up to date, the motherboard may need a BIOS update to the latest in order to fully support that processor.

Thanks, I actually just did the opposite. I was just using the on-board graphics. Initially when I first used it, it booted up fine - but I hadn't yet connected USB devices etc. I then added them and apart from the Blutooth issue, everything seemed good. I spent Thursday and Friday installing everything, finally getting to the point where I could boot up Studio One, loading my current project and it was all good. The machine is fast and silent and the entire time it was left on.

Friday night I decided to shut it down... and Saturday (today) when I turned it on, the fans were raging and nothing appeared on my monitor. After a few times forcing it to power down, I tried removing USB items etc, to the point where there was nothing connected apart from the monitor. It still didn't boot. However, after a while of NOT powering it off, the fans went silent and my monitor turned on with this message:

By going into the Bios and exiting WITHOUT saving, I was able to use the PC again.

I used it long enough to email the DAW builder and then tried rebooting. Since then... nothing. I tried adding a graphics card just to see if I would get any output to my monitor ... to no avail.

This case is a BEAST. I'm hoping I won't have to ship it back...

There is a newer BIOS for that board dated 01/23/25 looks like a number of fixes were implemented etc see here:

Also: The 9950x needs a really good cooler. Hopefully you have that and the fans are spinning properly. If not that chip can overheat very
easily.

Note: If you ordered that system from a builder, and there IS an actual defect, you should not be liable for return shipping. I would never do that
to my customers. Also: They should have thoroughly tested that system before shipping it to you.

Another thing you could try is to get into the BIOS. Would be either tapping the delete key or F1 during boot up and reset the BIOS to the defaults. Then save and exit.

Then update the BIOS to the 01/25 version. Also check that CPU cooler

Hey all, I really appreciate all the replies and advice. What a great community we have here!

Lots of things to try, I feel hopeful. :)

Reset the BIOS with the bridge on the mainboard.
Yes. Good suggestion. Download the PDF manual. Find the CMOS jumper & follow directions to reset. You could also unplug the power and remove the MB battery. Let it sit for a little while. I usually wait at least 15 minutes. Then plug power back in and give it a try

This may sound dumb, but make sure your RAM is seated in the correct slot. I was surprised when I built my newest AMD computer a year ago at which slot the RAM went to. Different than my other builds.

Don't forget when resetting CMOS with the jumper: unplug the power cable as well as USB and DP cables first!
Then set to "optimized default" or similar if available. Do your manual settings from there.
RAM speed set to "auto" often causes issues.
