A smart notch (or smart resistance) sounds cool. My question was based around I saw that encoders from the illustration might be endless, but that I also saw limits from the display band. Thinking there might be times an endless rotary knob could be used for constant rotation (scrolling, scrubbing, and such). Sintil8 detailed that, nicely. Only, I didnt catch true endless rotation as you kept with my question. Thank you. Sorry, for my late response. More on that...Interesting thought. I wonder if endless encoders with 'smart notch' exist, which activates when the selected parameter reaches min or max. Also great for rotary switches. That would be like having your cake and eating it too

IMHO., The situation with the current trend toward implementing Midi2 might possibly open up a more cohesive bi direction midi comms.
Hopefully with a slight sprinkling of AI fairy dust across midi control and H/Ware controllers could (head in the clouds) simplify how folk can do that thang.
Yes, I have a Faderport8 stacked next to my MP midi and it works well, navigation around FSP and other Daw tasks become shared across the devices, which is well worth considering.
My biggest headache was USB and Video ports. The MP midi requires 2 USB and a video port. (avoid usb hubs)
Then next, the desk space and having it all within easy reach.
I am a crumbly old fart and age takes it's toll and spending time with my arms extended is not nice.
Your list of controller's present many questions over which might integrate best with your existing gear etc,, on the plus side you get a big rush of retail therapy!
However, remember the GAS needs to be kept in check...

StreamDeck, nice ! They cover a lot of ground. I was lucky, picked up a second hand XL really cheap. Probably one of the best small bits of kit out there. Link that with the Remote app they cover a lot of the bases.

The kit from the left is: PreSonus Quantum ES2, Icon P-1M, StreamDeckXL, Flow Studio and Nektar Aruba. There’s a Quantum HD2 on the bridge (not yet in use) and an NI S88 Mk3 underneath. The monitors are Eris 5 BT, with a Sub 8 BT on the floor. The monitor is a Samsung 4k 43” TV.
