Navigation Essentials 2.0

Hi Lukas,

great to see an update for NE as well (I assume: as a side effect of your new Scoring Tools v2 upgrade). Many thanks for this (and all your efforts for the community)! :) As a sporadic user, I couldn't identify the changes compared to 1.8, except for the new icons and an extended default toolbar.

I'm sure you'll update the web page as soon as you find the time. But could you already give some hints of new features?

I wanted to see who notices first :-)

Yes, I've made some silent releases lately - and as you correctly suspected, Navigation Essentials 2.0 was a side effect of Scoring Tools 2.0. I haven't officially announced either of them yet. This will happen within the next couple of days or weeks.

The jump from Navigation Essentials 1.8 to 2.0 is not that big. But since I overhauled the toolbar (new icons, some new/replaced buttons), I decided to make the v2 jump. Here are the changes:

  • New command: Bounce Events. This bounces multiple audio events separately, without merging them into a single audio event as Bounce Selection does.

  • New command/menu: Quick Nudge. This lets you select a unit (bar, beat, frame, seconds, grid) and then use the toolbar buttons to nudge. It also allows entering custom values like "2 bars", "10 frames", or "0.001 seconds". This replaces the old "Nudge Beat/Frame/Second" buttons from version 1.

  • Studio One Scripts button: Opens the Studio One Scripts website. It's a freebie, so at least a link to the shop is a must ;-)

  • New Loop Range button group: These are just links to some useful Studio One commands for working with the Loop Range (e.g., Shift Loop / Play from Loop Start) that aren't present in any menus.

  • Two new buttons in the Transport group: Locate Selection and Locate Selection End

  • Overhauled toolbar
In the next update:
  • Deselect All Tracks

Online manual for Navigation Essentials is on the roadmap, but it’s low priority - so don’t count on it anytime soon.

Even though the current Scoring Tools .install file is named v2.0, it's still the v1.996 beta (at least for me). Also, there's no Info button to check the currently installed version for a possible update like there is for Navigation Essentials, just a button that takes me to the S1 Toolbox site.

Yes, this is correct. 1.9.9.6 is the latest version!

The Help button takes you to the online manual. If a new version is available, the page will display a message with a download link.
