Locate Missing Files Notification

Hi all
This panel is my nightmare.....
Ok, so S1 tell me there is one audio file which is missing.
Few questions;
1/ Why S1 tell me this whereas the missing file is well in the media song folder ??
2/ I use the locate file feature to select the file. So the audio file is well back again on the timeline, everythings sounds good so i perform a "save"then i close the song. I reopen the song 5sec later AND THE FILE IS AGAIN MISSING !!! How come please ?

Thanks for your help

How did the file get in the media folder of the song? Did Studio One put it there or did you?

Maybe move the file to a different location, open the song, locate the file, and then do a Song/Copy External Files... to fix the problem.

If that still doesn't fix it then check the file access rights. Maybe something wonky there...

Odd indeed. You could try the 'Copy External Files...' command in the pool tab of the browser after you relocated the file. It should force a new reference to the file if Studio One "thinks" it isn't a local file....

This drives me crazy
S1 put this file in the media folder itsef
Anyway i just tried to put the file in another location, then i i opened and located the file and perform a copy external files and save and guess what.... File is still missing when i reopen !!!
This drives me crazy

OK, another thing to try: Close the song, then (from you OS's browser) delete the Cache directory of the song (or rename it, if you're unsure about this. You can delete it later). Then re-open the song. Wait for the Cache Activity meter to stop before closing the song.

Not sure what you ask me.
Would you be kind enough to tell me precisely where this directory is supposed to be on a MAC please ?

When i was asked to locate the file, when seeing the name i had 2 choices.
Apparently i choose the wrong one because now all is well saved.
Now i have an important question, how is it possible that S1 accept the wrong file ??? Because even the audio seemed super normal etc there was no error message, it fit perfectly whereas apparently it was the wrong one so how such a massive flaw can happen in S1 please ?

Studio One is looking at the file name. So yeah, when you have multiple files with the same name...

On the other hand: Studio One stores files pertaining to a song in that song's subdirectory. As long as you don't meddle with that then nothing will go wrong. At some point you must have made some executive decisions there ;)

What do you mean exactly ?? (my english is limited sorry)
Because i did not mention but i have another arrangment page (less important one though) of this same song where there are load of missing files...
I did not asked the most important question, HOW DOES IT HAPPEN ? What did i do wrong because i have tons of other songs with no problem....

So you made a copy of the song file, or a complete copy the song's directory? That would create a new version of the song that's stil looking at the files of the initial version. That may work at first, until you rename or move the directory of that initial version of the song.

I use "save to new folder" feature when i want to back up my songs (its correct right ?)
But in my usual process i just perform a save or a save as for new version of my song, all correct ?

Ah, I don't like Save As very much as it changes something in the naming structure of the song so that song name and directory name can be different. Maybe that's where things went wrong? If you can't remember doing something different with this song compared to all others then it's impossible to answer the HOW? question.

I dont understand if you dont use "save as" how do you do to save new ideas and increment version of your song ?

Honestly i made a real try few months ago and it was a nightmare.
If i remember well i was not the only one even here to be very circumspect about that new version feature.
So for you guys using a "save as"for my new versions is a mistake ?
