Hi, I have a question — or maybe a feature/request suggestion — for Scoring Tools. I often create mock-ups based on existing MIDI files. Trills or tremolos are usually written there as a series of short notes, which I then have to merge into long MIDI events so I can assign the correct articulation (trill or tremolo). It’s quite tedious, because with trills I need to select the upper row of notes, shift them down by one or two semitones, select the whole sequence again, merge it, and assign the articulation.
Two things would be really useful here:
Currently merging creates looong note:
But with parameter could creates three separated:
And here’s my question: would Scoring Tools be able to add such a function to Studio One — even if not directly in the interface, at least as a command usable in macros? I’ve submitted this idea to PreSonus, but so far there’s no indication it might be implemented, so I’m writing here.
Two things would be really useful here:
- First, an intelligent merge of a selected trill: I select all the notes (both upper and lower), and the command shifts the upper notes down by the appropriate interval and merges everything into a single note (or, in a simplified version, deletes the upper notes and merges the lower ones).
- Second, the merge function should have a variant with a parameter that defines the maximum distance above which notes will no longer be merged; this would allow merging longer sequences of notes of the same pitch, which currently get merged into one very long note instead of several slightly shorter ones.
