Is Native Instruments Selling Any Products?

Doesn't really matter as the only DAWs that support MIDI 2 (if you can even call it that at this time) are Logic, Cubase, and "Bremmers" MultitrackStudio.

Until Studio Pro can boast full battle-tested MIDI 2 support for at least 2 full years - AND any keyboard controller I might choose to interface with it - has also had that same track record - then I might take a look. Until then MIDI 1 continues to be just fine.

On that note - saw another post from NI earlier today - where the guy (Tim Rae) who oversees the S-Series had this tidbit:

Good enough for me to keep my S-Series MKIII in its box for a few more months.

At least if/when SP supports the new v2.14 firmware.

While I concede that you were right about the MIDI 2 rollout amongst the likes of big players like Apple, Windows, NI, Cubase, FSP, etc taking a while to sort out, it does really matter that FSP is again the last in line and has shown zero willingness to step up the pace. Microsoft is working out the kinks as far as Win11 and MIDI 2 goes; there have already been several iterations and they're serious about working out the stability issues. Looks like things are already really close on the Cubase side. Hope for your sake you're right about being able to use your mk3 KK with FSP in a few months. The ract remains FSP has not covered itself in glory by remaining mum and moveless on MIDI 2. You're allowed to remain disinterested in MIDI2; does that mean no one else should be when the likes of every major and minor entity in the MIDI Association feels differently?

I could care less about MIDI 2 - what I want is Studio Pro to join the real players out there and at least support the S-Series v2 firmware.

That's what I was referring to, thank you for articulating that. :)

I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see FSP announce MIDI 2 support ready to go once it is stable. For all we know they have code ready to go when the planets align.

Or maybe not.

Seems like playing nice with KK mk3 and Arturia Keylab mk3 would be a lot simpler to implement; if that's taking forever, forgive me for being less than optimistic that FSP programming resources are being dedicated to MIDI 2 compatibility and that it'll be ready to go as soon as MS comes up with a bulletproof Win11 release. Where the evidence currently points, Fender couldn't be any clearer about marketing to guitarists and any less ambivalent about marketing to heavy MIDI users. MIDI 2 developments have peaked during the four years or so since Fender acquired Presonus, and so far the twain hasn't met yet. So it isn't only NI that's limiting its product sales these days.

I agree that it seems logical that KK MK3 Keylab MK3 would have had higher priority. OTOH, NI and Arturia might be slow-rolling the work with Fender. I think I remember NI being slow to work with PSL for the KK MK2 for whatever reason.

Who knows? I certainly don't

What is known is that Cubase and Logic make no bones about caring about this, a lot, and Fender's into maintaining strict radio silence, which isn't far from saying without actually saying it that's it's no priority for them. They're probably right that guitar players are a bigger demographic than heavy MIDI users—or those of us who'd like to become heavy MIDI users, but don't really want to invest time into mastering the nuts and bolts of both MIDI 1 and MIDI 2. Hey, it's their football. If the odd 16-year S1 user like myself defects, them's the breaks, as they see it.

Never thought I'd do this, but today I cancelled my membership. I feel like I'm just blindly spending money without any idea of what's going on.

This thread is in drift mode - if we are done yakking about NI and their product offerings - might be time to shift this to a new convo...
