Is locked dedicated hardware control possible?

I am still learning S1 and am currently using it in a live theater production scenario and need to have certain of my ATOM SQ and keyboard/controller knobs etc. hard mapped to certain macros on certain tracks/channels so that the desired hardware knob will ALWAYS control the desired macro knob no matter where the current focus is on screen. Is this possible?

My situation is such that I am performing on the keyboard and have to control several parameters, mapped to a macro, with one hand in a single fluid movement at points. I am finding (tho this surprises me a bit) that the macro assignment only works if the Macro tab of the Editor window for the channel in question is in focus on screen. The nature of the workflow through the piece would require several movements with the mouse to achieve that focus. Even if the target channel is selected and I press F11 to bring up the editor, I then have to select the Macro tab with the round icon in the upper left of the Editor window.

In short, within a single project, I need hardware controllers to be dedicated no matter what else is going on. The projects in question are relatively simple - under 10 tracks with a need for only 1-5 knobs mapped thusly.

I imagine that, being a "Studio" product these live scenarios are likely not possible (as with Live) but I wanted to ask the experts....

Live isn't made for this kind of scenario either. Gig Performer is. Or the Studio One Show Page (although you will likely be missing some features). For global assignments, I would rather go with the Show Page and try these mappings if you want to stay within Studio One.

I started to look into the Shows page possibilities but need to understand more of how that works. It seemed limited to me and more of a Playlist player for compiled projects kind of thing.
I need to have several virtual instruments open and available and manipulatable, timeline style playback at times with free style modifications and control at time (loops on/off, tracks on/off, etc.), FX parameters with Macros to hardware knobs as mentioned, etc. I have used Live for years for exactly this, and especially with Clyph-X Pro scripts this is wonderfully successful. I can still do this here of course, but I am enjoying getting to know S1. I love it in the studio! If there is a way to use Shows page for my use case above, I'd love to learn more.
Thank you, Lukas.

That's what I thought. The Show Page will provide some, but not all, of these options. You can play several virtual instruments at the same time by creating multi instruments or adding multiple players. You can also loop, skip and repeat sections ad hoc, or switch patches. However, you won't be able to create instrument events with arbitrary MIDI for playing instruments and controlling devices.

Here's a video series that should provide a good overview of what is and isn't possible.

Gotcha. I will definitely look more into it.

In the meantime, is there not even a way to keep the Macro editor page locked open? What exactly is the "Pin" in the upper right meant to do? It hasn't become clear to me. - I am figuring all this out on the fly in show rehearsal, because I like to make things hard on myself :p

🫣😅

The Pin symbol allows you to keep multiple instances of the same window open. This could be multiple instruments, multiple effects, channel windows, and so on.
