Impact Drum Layering (+ New User Introduction!)

Hi Studio One people!

First off, this is my first time posting on this forum. I've been using Studio One/Pro for over a decade and it's my favorite DAW for sure. I've used others over the years but I always come back. I'm just a hobbyist musician but love messing with production stuff as well. I released my own EP several years ago, all done with Studio One!

For the Impact drum pads, how do I layer a drum sample on one pad? I see there's an option to layer, but anytime I drag & drop a .wav from the built in browser, it doesn't allow me to layer on a single pad. For the record, I don't use any 3rd party loops or samples. I'm just using whatever comes with Studio One and the factory "add-ons". What are the conditions to be met in order to layer samples?

Thanks and glad to be here!

Over in the Browser - highlight a half dozen kick samples (for example) - and drag the whole stack over an empty pad in Impact...

But before you let go of the mouse button to complete the drop - toggle CTRL on and off on the keyboard and watch the little label change....

Magic time.

Thanks! I can see how that works if you know what samples you are using at the same time. But lets say I have a snare sample and I think it needs more oomph, and I find another sample later on I'd like to use as a layer. Is there a way to add to that pad as a layer?

Same deal.

If you need more "oomph" - simply highlight ANOTHER sample in the Browser - drag it over to the pad that already has a sample - and hold it over the pad - and then press/hold CTRL - watch the little message change as before.

Rinse and repeat until sufficient "oomph" has been achieved.

Clicking and dragging the sample over the pad then holding CTRL worked for me! Thank you!!

I also noticed after the samples are stacked, I can click the sample's name (grey box above the waveform) to hear the individual sample. Awesome!
