I Bet You’ll Use the Files Tab More After Watching This

I apologize for the slightly (?) click-baity title 😅

Anyway, I really stand behind this new video because the Files tab in the Browser is such a powerful tool that almost no one seems to have on their radar. With it, you can create templates from literally anywhere:
  • any folder on your drive
  • any Studio One song
  • or even specific folder tracks within a template song.
I go into all the details in the video. Would love to hear your feedback!

I have to admit I was underestimating the Files tab. It isn't just another Explorer. Thanks.

I love the files tab! There's lots of great info in the video, my feedback is that it was well worth posting. I also really appreciate how the Broswer can preview anything audio you find in the files, match it to tempo, let you jump to anywhere in a file, and alter the volume. Studio One is so adaptable to personal workflows.

I'm a little bit of an outlier as I try not to use anything twice except for FX Chains, so quick access to templates and previous presets are less relevant to what I do. But the Files tab has saved me hours when I need to come up with an audio example for a tip, like an acoustic guitar part to show how to remove squeaks. Using the Files tab and its Search, I can almost always find something I did in the past that's useable. And since I started doing that, it made me aware just how important it is to give EVERYTHING meaningful names that are optimized for search.

I'll second Welwood's comment that the Files tab isn't just another Explorer. Keep posting these videos...!

Great video Lukas. I completely agree with respect to the files tab and S1 handling of templates in general. To me it is perhaps the single most distinguishing feature. I don't see any other applications with this level of capability and flexibility (yes Reaper). It may well be the thing that keeps me using S1 particularly given a feeling of uneasiness around its direction.

I used to work in huge templates because I had to in other DAWs but given the option I'm very happy to leave that behind. For me S1 templating is near perfect. I too am amazed that it isn't lauded much more.
