Help with recording guitar. Rookie Tempo changes

I need help guys. In this song I’m recording the next riff changes tempo, but when I try and record guitar, it records it at a faster tempo. How do I record without the program Speeding up my performance?

That's a bit cryptic. Studio One/Pro does not change the tempo of a recording on its own accord; It needs to be instructed to do so. So we need a little more information on what you're trying to achieve (Recording a song with tempo changes?) and what you tried so far to do that (Recording with metronome or backing track? Manually changing the session tempo between sections?). Also good to know your OS and the version of Studio One/Pro you're using.

So I’m writing guitar with drums already written. I changed the tempo of the drums, when I record guitar with it, after I’m done the recording shrinks it to the tempo I set the drum at. I know it’s a setting but it automatically did it.

Trying to explain but I’m a rookie thx for the reply I can upload a video but need to know what kind of video I can upload 😫 thank you for your time

Ideally everything in SP plays 'to the grid'; When you switch on the metronome then song and metronome should play in step. This makes it a lot easier to add further tracks and to manipulate tempo. This tempo can be a single fixed tempo across the song (set from the bottom of the screen) or it can be a varying tempo (as set and manipulated from the Tempo Track). Grid, metronome and the song's tempo are locked in with each other.

So the first question is: Do drums or guitar or both play in step with the metronome?

Then, for each track you can choose how it should respond to changes either from the tempo track or from the bottom of the screen. The Tempo settings are:
  • Don't follow: The events on the track ignore changes made to the song's tempo/tempo track. Everything stays fixed in time, not to grid position.
  • Follow: The (starts of) events on the track shift in time with changes made to the song's tempo/tempo track to keep their grid positions, but the events do not play slower or faster.
  • Timestretch: The events on the track shift and stretch* with changes made to the song's tempo/tempo track to keep their grid positions and tempo. So when the song's tempo is set higher then the events will play faster.
* This is for events that have their File Tempo (map) set, which is the case for everything recorded in SP. Imported audio may not have a File Tempo (yet) so won't stretch with changes to SP's song tempo.

So the second question is: Assuming that all events have a File Tempo (map), which Tempo setting did you choose for the drum track(s) and the guitar track?

Other than making changes to the song's tempo there are a few other ways to change the speed at which tracks/events play.

So the third question is: How did you change the tempo for the drum track(s)?
