This is perhaps more of a theoretical/conceptual question and not a "feature request", per se (although I would LOVE to request it), but...
I have always assumed,
naively it seems, that any "Harmony" aiding applications, whether native in the DAW or in specialized scripts or plugins, would offer aid/guide tools to inform actual
harmonization, as in harmonizing an existing solitary melody line - for example using any of the classical/conventional Shenkerian, Shoenbergian, etc., or non-conventional theories to suggest complete extrapolated harmonic accompaniment to the an existing one-voice melody line.
As it stands currently, it seems that harmony applications, in whatever form, simply suggest alterations of
existing harmonic structure or, in an attempt at a more generative function, suggest "most likely" or conventional (not unlike "next token" prediction in LLMs) next chord possibilities based on the previous chord (and most just using key and previous
one chord only, it seems, as opposed to a more comprehensive look-back at the preceding
harmonic movement within that key). Those are all cool, of course, but why the glaring omission of traditional harmonization from first principles? It is, after all, highly algorithmic and therefor a trivial thing to instantiate (I would think) in a script.
If I am missing something that is indeed already offered, whether in DAW/FSP chord-harmony functions, Harmony Wizard, Scaler 3, etc. , and someone knows that, please tell me! Cuz I can't find it
And if there is a DAW oriented tool that serves this purpose elsewhere, please let me know as well.
This is friendly and appreciative musing and not a complaint about "not enough work done" on any of the above.
