Fender Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

The timing of this stuff is not a coincidence. It's not just Studio One, it's a whole bunch of Presonus hardware that has been rebranded as Fender. In 6 days time you can expect Fender to be making a lot of noise at NAMM.

Every session with 3 or more instances of Slate VTM renders a loud noise on playback, that can easily damage speakers, followed by a crash. This is very bad.

@Crossinger
OTOH: when fellow users like @Vocalpoint state “l’m happy with my free 7.2.3 for the time being” and buy v8 on day one of release - then Fender has done something right 😎

That’s perfectly true, but the overwhelming feeling among Reddit groups and under relevant YouTube videos is that the name change has gone down like a lead balloon, and there was no need for Fender to have upset the community in that way. A bit of prior preparation and explanation would have gone a long way to avoiding this alienation. Doing it after the event, as may well happen at NAMM, is too late.

Hey Guys,

As far as I've seen, only two people have reported crashes: Absu and wdkbeats. Could you both please create a separate thread where you write down the details so we can get to the bottom of this? From what I've seen so far, one works with Windows 10, the other has no information. One uses Slate, the other doesn't use VSTs. Then Mustang is used, but it is said that no plugins are used.

I would like to sort all this out to find out where the common ground is. The best thing would be to reproduce the problem starting with an empty session. Once I can reproduce your crashes, there's a chance they can be fixed. But if there is no information at all about what the problem actually is, then troubleshooting is nearly impossible.

Many thanks! 🙏
Ari

My sessions are quite large, with many plugins. I can provide a session file that causes almost instant noise bursts and consequently crashes.

The question is are the quantum interfaces and faderport getting a new name or refresh for NAMM with the new Fender Studio name
Interfaces - yes: https://uk.fender.com/pages/audio-interfaces

Not seen any mention of Faderports yet.

There are also two new MIDI controllers coming along, clearly based on the Atoms:

I guess there are going to be some decent deals to be had as retailers clear the shelves of the "old" Presonus stuff.

1 click to open and close a plugin. I've waited years for this. I can unlearn the old lame double-click immediately.
This might actually tempt me to upgrade from V5 😂

Decided to go with it, install as expected painless. Currently all going well... I think I've been lucky

Kindest regards to Ari and the team.

There's no evidence of the ES and HD ranges being renamed as yet, nor the monitors. The interfaces you link are all at the bottom of the price range, though decently specced. Combined with Ari's statement yesterday that PreSonus aren't going anywhere, there seems to be a realignment going on and it's going to be interesting to work out the new philosophy. I haven't worked it out yet!

I havn't had any crashes but having Slate FG-Stress on my drum bus is causing clipping and making the drums sound mega distorted (open session in 7.2.3 and don't have this issue).

As mentioned, please create separate threads for each issue so that the causes can be investigated in a targeted and individual manner.

ps: PS: By the way, I've heard several times that Slate is involved. Just saying.

I would suggest anyone getting crashes in FSP8 to remove the application settings as a first step.

I purchased the $99 upgrade today and my account says I will get updates for 3 years which is awesome.

It is to be feared that this will have to be assessed quite differently. 3 years of free updates from today could mean that Fender will no longer offer major updates for at least three years. After all, you want to earn money on the so-called 'big' updates on a recurring basis. Anyway. In particular, Studio One versions 6-7 and now version 8 were no longer major updates for me anyway. But in each case simply inflated marketing campaigns without huge innovations. Absolutely disappointing and unacceptable to me. It's a shame about the initially innovative Studio One product. I don't predict a real future for this software anymore.

No problem, im not actually looking for support as im going to stay on 7.2.3 for the time being but i have seen Slate being mentioned and just wanted to confirm (for yours/anyones reference) that this is also being problematic in my experience

Slate and S1 were not the biggest bros in the past. Had several conversations with the Slate Digital Support when problems occured where they've ranted a lot about S1. It was those kind of support conversations where Slate support said: "contact Presonus, they are in charge" and Presonus said "contact Slate, they are in charge". :ROFLMAO:

Having watched this situation pretty closely over the last 36 hours, it seems to me that the intention was for the free update period to remain as it's been since the introduction of v7: 1 year from the date of registration of the purchase. It would appear that the reported 2 and 3-year update cycles some have received are an anomaly and may have something to do with how their v7 licence was obtained (by direct purchase or by hardware association), and whether they were previously on a Perpetual or a Plus account at the point of their previous update period expiring. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Fender contact these individuals to correct the expiry dates, as the Terms and Conditions they signed up to prior to installation are clear that the update period is one year.

Just a question. Is there any kind of way to remove this channel strip view showing up when double clicking on channels? I want my quick mixer view back, this is super annoying that this thing is poping up everywhere.
Or can I disable the channel strip view completely?

Not yet tried this new version but I have set up the new Studio Pro Remote V2. It's working with Studio One 7. I have to report that there are no new features in the Remote which seems like a missed opportunity to improve some of the functionality
