Fender Studio Pro 8 - Discussion Thread

Does anyone know if any of the 23 included Sound Sets were new or updated snd therefore need to be installed/reinstalled?
I'm not aware of any updates to the included Sound Sets.

I don't mean to sound mean or arrogant, but perhaps your answers are aimed at inexperienced users, which I am not. Over 30 years of working with various DAWs, and about the same amount of time as an audio production engineer and advanced PC user, I know very well which plugins can crash a DAW and when. Moreover, I can open windbg and analyze the dump from the DAW.
(Which I've done more than once, and almost always figured out which plugin is causing the problem.)
Furthermore, you mistakenly think I'm asking for help here. I'm simply recording some points so that other users are aware, and it's up to them to decide whether to pay attention to my posts or not.
In any case, I'm grateful for your attempts to help.
I'm sure everything described in this thread will be fixed (just as what was fixed with buggy 7.0 release )
I'll just continue working quietly on 7.2.3 until 8.1 - 8.2 comes out)
But that doesn't change the fact that this is an extremely controversial and questionable release from many perspectives.
In any case, thank you. I hope you understand me correctly.

I think i have a similar experience to you to be honest. When 7.0 was released, i experienced crashes non stop ranging from sessions freezing, the UI colours glitching out and full computer shutdowns. I was told repeatedly that plugins were the cause (even though i had 0 crashing issues on 6.x). So i went through every single plugin, updated literally every single one available and removed any that wern't Apple Silicon ready. Eventually after a few updates i gave up and moved to Cubase because i was spending more time troubleshooting than anything productive. In the meantime, i still tested every version that came out and it wasn't until 7.2.1 that the crashing/other issues stopped.

Long winded way of saying i don't believe the plugins were the issue since it was a Presonus release that resolved everything

I'm not aware of any updates to the included Sound Sets.
Thank you. I sure didn’t want to reinstall all that content if it wasn't necessary.

I tried to get my copy of Eventide Shimmerverb going - but it's iLok and while I have had my iLok account for years - no dice trying to get that going.

Support ticket sent...

I got Eventide Ultrachannel for free some years ago and have used the hell out of it ever since. Not sure Shimmerverb is worth revisiting iLok if you've taken a break. Ultrachannel is in all likelihood a lot more versatile, so I dealt with it.

Good luck! I've found the peeps at iLok to be very helpful.

I have just bought a presonus hd8 do I now get version 8 when I register it ?

IIRC, when you register the device, everything you're entitled to will be found in your MyFender account automatically.

Wow! Talk about in the dark! Me that is. I log on today and am taken to my.fender.com and all this. I guess folks knew this was happening, but I am a relatively new PreSonus Studio One customer (within the last year) and just dove in to using the software, not reading news, and had no idea of this. Shouldn't there have been some sort of email/account message explaining things somewhere? I am not complaining about the software. Studio One still works great for me. But I am just..... surprised. Is Studio One going away? Do we HAVE to upgrade to Fender Studio?? Where is there an explanation of what to expect as a paying perpetual license holder to Studio One and all that? It's like..... a new woman that I've never met before just got home claiming to be my wife, and she seems absolutely lovely don't get me wrong, I just... didn't know that I was married...

No, you don’t have to upgrade. In any case, v8 will be a separate installation from v7, so you can have both on your system. PreSonus/Fender don’t ever email to tell us anything about what’s going on!

Can anyone out there (Ari?) confirm that if one "purchases" the upgrade (vs getting it via a "plan") one receives two years worth of updates vs just one?

Seeing some interesting observations from a few users on other forums saying their new expiry date in their accounts is now Jan 13, 2028

I purchased the $99 upgrade today and my account says I will get updates for 3 years which is awesome.

Same here. This is a very fair priced upgrade.

Can the Channel Overview be detached? I can see great benefits from moving it to my secondary monitor, a touchscreen
Yes, the detach arrow is on the top left side of the channel overview. at least on a Windows machine..

You got very lucky on the bug lottery. This one went in your favor - big time!
Yes, but that overall situation is quite unfortunate, and it doesn’t explain the “gift” tag of some free upgrades - as seen in the Reddit screenshots.

VP upgraded and ended with one year, others seem to have been gifted or are getting exteded upgrade periods. Yet there is nothing official as to why that might be.
It is all very confusing. I wasted a good part of yesterday trying to work out what was going on and am still confused.

Regards

Fender have truly F’d up with the deep and silent approach. A large proportion of the user group has been alienated by the name change, which came with no warning, justification or attempt to oil the waters before what was inevitably going to be a controversial move. Things will settle down, but a good few will move away after this - and if the hardware becomes ‘bargain basement only’, as yesterday’s releases might indicate, the motivation for staying with the DAW will be weakened further. There was no need for this ‘slash and burn’ tactic.
