Fender Studio Pro 8.1 - Discussion Thread

The first thing that comes to mind: Convert the current mixdown to an MP3 and give it a listen on my phone using regular headphones. I do that within the session folder that is synced with the cloud.
Gotcha - I do that from within the S1 browser...it does take a bit of setup but I think it's worth it

1. Go to the Files Tab - I make sure I am looking at the top level (Click "Files" at the extreme left):

Expand the Studio Pro folder to the Songs folder:

Then go into Songs. For me - I have several different catogories in play:

"Active" is my stuff in various states of readyness

Once here - I right click on the "Active" folder and choose New Tab From Here

This places the entire "Active" folder into the Files area - with full
fast access to ALL my songs - all of their requiste bits and pieces... including the all important Mixdown folder:

From here - I simply right click on the WAV file indicated - choosing Send to Audio Batch Converter and off I go - never leaving the Studio Pro environment.

Takes a few minutes to get setup - but you only need to do it once.

OK, but in my workflow there isn't an “Active” folder. Instead, I have to dig it out of the Songs folder every time. An “Open current session folder” button would solve the problem. SoundFlow has a button like that, by the way. 🤔

Fair enough - but there are all sorts of options to build that out. You do not have to accept the folder structure that S1/SP decides is good.

In those screencaps above - that "Active" folder is not even a real folder. It is a junction to the real folder. I store my actual songs on a completely different drive and far away from the standard Studio Pro folder structure. But that is not stopping me from bringing the action into the Browser.

Two bugs I've found:

On macOS Tahoe:

- Zoom doesn't always work with the Command key pressed and the Apple Magic Mouse
- In the channel (mixer): Removing all plugins doesn't always work

Having run on this one a few days, I have to say I'm concerned about stability. Previous versions were absolutely rock solid (better than any version of Studio One yet). This new one is crashing quite a bit. I say this understanding the entire system stability is in flux due to the new Windows update which made substantial changes to *processor prioritization* as well as security updates from all the software companies involved. But if Studio Pro team is working on anything right now, I *really* hope they're figuring out how to restore stability.

You would have to be much more specific, for example by providing clear steps to reproduce the issue. As it stands, these bug reports are not very useful. I’m unable to reproduce any of the problems described.

No crashes here at all after three months of extensive testing on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Do these crashes also occur without any 3rd plug-ins in your sessions?

Windows Updates would have almost zero to do with stability now. Windows 11 is 5 years old, very mature and very stable.

And being as dialled into the Windows release world as one man can be - I have not heard anything about substantial changes to "processor prioritization" - unless you are talking the Experimental or Beta tracks which do have lots of stuff going on right now.

However - mainstream "Production Ready" releases (that a well tuned DAW should always be running) - like 25H2 (Build 26200.8655) have no sign of any huge changes to processor scheduling that I am aware of.

You would need to get specific with what you are seeing and give us a full readout on your machine, from hardware to audio interface to what plugins you have running when you see instability to what is also running on your machine WHILE using Studio Pro.

There are infinite possibilities for instability and usually - it all starts with plugins.

I agree, but to be fair, any of the prominent LLMs already function as incredible studio one assistants.

I believe some of them were first trained on data scraped from the now defunct forum as well, meaning they have certain knowledge that does not exist anymore on the internet.

Buyer beware OFC, this is just my experience

They'll either give you a great answer, or spit out complete bullshit, you know how it is.

I've done a fair bit of LLM questioning about Studio Pro in the last 6 weeks as I complete a mastering.com Production Intensive course. I have found that, without exception, each of the LLM's I've interrogated has provided answers that were correct for PreSonus Studio One Pro 7, but often wrong for Fender Studio Pro 8. Once I correct them, and remind them which DAW I wish them to reference, they improve their answers - usually. However, I've had them completely give up on occasion! Unfortunately, they don't seem to learn from these interactions, so it becomes a bit of a battle of wills. The only advantage is that I've got pretty good at reading the manual so I can correct the LLM with a reference - which it promptly forgets! I hope the Studio Assistant (for those who have access to it) is a bit more useful.

Graphics card drivers are worth checking. They don't cause problems often, but when they do, people often don't think to consider them until they've checked a zillion other things first.

Well 3 days here (for 8.1) but it's been solid and very stable for me (also Windows 11) too. No change in stability for me compared with prior versions of FSP.

Video segment about the AI Studio Pro+ Assistant. It works in 3 ways:

1. Using PDF manuals for faster answers.
2. Reading the current state of your Studio Pro session for better answers.
3. Creative suggestions for How-to-achieve-something questions with the tools/workflow of Studio Pro.

Relevant part starts at 13:35 with the 3 ways explained at 14:30.

Thanks Jens. Will check this out. I have been trying out the Studio Assistant and have been quite impressed so far. Incorporating this into the DAW is a big + to me, when compared with using Gemini, etc outside of the DAW (or making do with the manual :( ). This (to me) would justify an ongoing subscription to +

Was möchtest du hören?

Details :-) No repro, no fix.

Is it about insert effects in a channelstrip? Or instrument plug-ins in the instrument rack? If it's the latter, it must be the Instrument Set rack since the "regular" instrument rack does not have a "Remove All" command - only "Remove Unused".
