Fender Studio Pro 8.0.1 - Discussion Thread

Thank you for replying. Hopefully in a future update they will add the ability to audition the progression from the lists.

How exactly do you see that working? Are you asking to be able to double click on any chord to have your track start playing from that point in the arrangement (like the arrangement inspector does)?

You do know you can click on any chord to hear it, then click on any other chord etc., as a way of experimenting?

On both v8 and v8.01 using Melodyne on ARA, the fades doesn't work good. It cutes the sound a little before... :(

I'm talking specifically about the new chord progression feature on the chord track that allows you to select a chord progression then it will add it to the chord track. Lukas just explained that you can't just click on a chord progression in the drop down list to preview it. You have to first add it to the chord track then you can play and hear the progression. That's not a very good workflow if I have to add the progression to the chord track every single time just to hear the progression.

Ahhh, I see what you mean, thanks. Yes, it would be good if a right click on any progression would simply play the chord sequence (perhaps at the current tempo).

Like many Studio One features, I am guessing they are designed and implemented without any real allocation for modifications other than bug fixes. It then becomes tricky to get any of the workflow deficits that come to light assigned to a future schedule/sprint.

For example, it's a little strange that there is no reflection of where the 'cursor' is in the progression.

And in fact, if you had just auditioned a chord, it remains highlighted (not a bad thing at all, but...)

Choosing a progression overwrites an area that may then surprise you

In any case, to test out any changes, you either have to left click on the newly inserted/replaced) chords and then hit undo or paste a new progression over it. Not a fast workflow, I agree.

You might want to check your plug-ins. Or provide some details, so we can give you tips.
I'm not the original OP, however, in my case every time I hit an A# when recording midi using an arturia keylab 49, it changes my view from the grid editor to a list of vsts that I could use as track inserts. Also when I hit an F note, it opens up the gui for the vst I'm using at that moment. There is nothing I did other than start Studio 8 up. Thats in one song. Other songs have a myriad of issues I can work around until there's a new update.

I don't own a Keylab so this is just working off your description?
This sounds like you need to look at your H/W controller setup. The midi ports are possibly mixed up, as that looks like Mackie Control commands are being sent from your keys...which would suggest the wrong port is set and is being sent/received as Mackie control?

Hope this helps, best regards

Is it true that FP8 no longer includes Ampire? If not, then how will I be able to use the SVT model, one of my favorite bass effects? :(

I just checked for you: Ampire is still there, SVT Amp included

EDIT: - THIS IS INCORRECT, see Lukas' post below:

I think you keep it if you had it, but if you buy Fender Pro Studio Pro Fender Pro 8 from scratch, you just get the Mutley Mustang. No Ampire. It's not on the Fender product page.

Hi guys, new in the forum. With what Mac OS is Studio Pro working with no issues? I'm running SP 8.0.1 on Ventura 13.7.8 and definitely having screen blinking issues, weird distortions, cpu random spikes etc. I love the 8 version, not complaining, just want to check if it's stable on other OS? Thanks in advance! :)

No. Ampire is still part of the program. Always was and still is.

Hi Pepepan, welcome to the forum!

Studio Pro should work with no issues on all supported OS versions. The system requirements on Mac are:

- macOS® 13.5 (Ventura or newer)
- Intel® core™ i3 / Apple® M1 processor or better
- At least 8 GB RAM (16 GB or more recommended)

We would need to know more details about the screen blinking issues, distortions, etc. Could you please create a new thread (don't forget to add your system specs to your signature!)?

how can I demo version 8? couldn't find trail button yet at their website

I'm pretty sure you have to create an account before you can access the 30-day free trial.

Again, thanks Luke. The amount of wrong information passed on is really wearing on my bones. I have to remember going forward to take a lot of update commentary with a grain of salt. People just rattle off information without the least bit of awareness. I take it, the no show of Ampire is if they solely purchase Pro Studio 8, and not updated from version 7.

Another really bad bit of information I saw a week or two ago was that there were no track icons. Jeez, I'm avoiding the useless chatter going forward. Thanks guys for stating what is actually correct. For the incorrect info, "no soup for you!" 😉 🍲

When this came up yesterday, I did my best to find definitive info on the Fender site. That's not to say that Lukas' info isn't definitive :D

There is a comparison between Pro and Pro+, but it only shows plugs by count with no detailed list. I'm a subscriber so a simple look into my account doesn't really count for anything, but Ampire is there.

Speaking of track icons, when will they either give us a ton more options or allow us to create our own? I need more... and color coded lol.
