Another thing that looks like was fixed that was not included in the notes...they included a newer version of the Visual C++ Redistributable, so it didn't break half of my other programs.

Unfortunately, the "Freeze Automation Bug" has not been fixed. :-(

Hi Timo is there a seperate thread with this "Freeze Automation Bug"?
Because I can not see any issue here. Would like to see that in detail. Feel free to open a new one.

Ari

Great to see that automation during export seems to be fixed now! Just tested it with a project that had this issue, the export seems to have all the automation now

It was not mentioned in the changelog, I wonder why?

Hi Ari,

Okay, I'll do that. I've also just found a workaround. If you merge two clips beforehand and then add some extra space before the event, the automation freezes properly. This also applies to audio events.

It's the first item on the list:

It absolutely is mentioned. Look at the first entry on the "Fixed" list. Boom.

EDIT
Ugh, sorry Lukas, I replied before seeing your reply.

Don't forget that Freeze (formerly: Transform) is event-based, anyway.

It is a bit concerning that so many of these new bugs in V8 are related to the audio engine and actually affect the way things will sound. I think I will continue using V7 on my serious projects (those with money involved), hopefully those things get addressed...

But there was no mention of a bug here. He just misunderstood the freeze function a little. But if you find an audio-related bug that hasn't been addressed or mentioned yet, I'm all ears. :)

Why did he misunderstand the freeze function? Even if the freeze function is event-based like Lukas says the timing of the automation should still be right, shouldn't it? In Timos video some automation that is drawn before the event is audible during the event.

Can we please fix this...

Unfortunately I still have an automation-related issue after the update to 8.0.1.

On an instrument track (Presence) with ProEQ as the only plugin, I have a single dynamic EQ band at 2kHZ with the non-dynamic gain for that band automated.
It's full of crackles if the automation lane is enabled and in read mode (if rendered to audio, the crackles are also present).
If I disable the automation lane -or- change the mode from Read to Off, the crackles go away.

8.01 has crashed now twice when moving a MIDI note an octave down using shift-arrow. The same action does not cause a crash in 7.23.
Unfortunately the crash log did not catch the event. S1 just quit instantly.
Going back to 7...

Hi Lukas!

I was under the impression that the problem raised by FMN-Music about "the [flawed] mute logic for instrument channel" was in fact the reporting of a bug that needed to be fixed ASAP.
As the current 8.0.1 update says and does nothing about it, I was wondering if we should still expect this behaviour to be restored as it was in v7? Or should we get used to it...
Thank you for all your work!

A big thank you to the development and beta test teams for such a quick turnaround on bug smashing! This gives us confidence that the name change is just a name change.
