I'm so POed at CW/BL now that I can't even stand to lurk on their forum anymore. As Lokefly said above, we got screwed by them. They seem to think that just because they gave us a freebie for 5 years they get to abuse us now. BS! They can have it! I still have the freebie on my system and I ran it last week to get a setting and a pop up offered me 1 year for $71.00. No way. I'm a Studio One user now. No looking back. At the very least Presonus are willing to let me BUY a DAW and not just rent one.@ MisterE,
Speaking on behalf of myself, I don't get that impression in the least. First, the forum doesn't screen previous DAW users. If 50 Pro Tools users come in, or are even already here (I know a few, including myself), and raise other questions of various complexity, I'm not sure that constitutes a forum name change. C'mon MisterE, you respectfully know better than that. Something is obviously getting under your skin about Cakewalk, and that's on you (twice now you've commented on this), not this forum to consider a name change. ALL of these good people are production minded, musicians, professional or amateur, enthusiasts. If you don't like the content or it's questions, don't read it. Use the forum strictly to your advantage. I came a few ticks from selecting Sonar, when I was first looking at Studio One. In some ways, it has some superior advantages. Some, not so. But I welcome every one of them, here. They got a raw deal, and have moved on, and contribute. So perhaps the rest of us should as well.
Peace, out.
If it bothers you so much just don't look in. We are all contributors. This forum doesn't just belong to you. It belongs to all of us.Craig and Lokeyfly, I don't have a basic problem with people wanting to compare Cakewalk and Studio One. But there has been so much of it of late in the old and new forums it has become a major turnoff to me. I just wish this brave new forum would provide a place where former Cakewalk users could be served and they could talk about why S1 isn't Cakewalk to their heart's content instead of dominating what's titled a Studio One Community forum. Cakewalk is not part of Studio One. But there are quite a few refugees. Fine. Give them a sub-forum where they can question why S1 doesn't behave as marvelously as Cakewalk all day long without bothering people who only want to know about Studio One on a Studio One forum.
Discussions about pan laws are one thing. Discussions about how Cakewalk sounds better just don't deserve bandwidth on this particular forum.
I also don't have a historical problem ignoring posts that don't affect me personally. But it's not just a few of them here and there. From my perspective, the sheer volume of posts lamenting why Studio One behaves differently from what they're used to in this forum has been a real drag. You want to immigrate into Studio One land, great, just spare us the constant questioning about why S1 doesn't have every last Cakewalk feature already. Did someone give you a guarantee every Cakewalk feature would be implemented into S1 when you crossgraded? I think not. And please, please spare us the "Gibson killed Cakewalk, so let's all get paranoid Fender will kill Studio One" whines. Lastly, I don't really want to hear about how badly Cakewalk treated its customers on a forum intended to share S1 tips and help with S1 issues. Give Cakewalk refugees a Moan Zoan and let 'em vent away. Just not here.
No. Interfaces have never been more equal in sound as they are now. It would have no bearing on any DAW sound quality differences. To the OP-Did you recently change your interface? That's the only possible variable that could change the sound.
