Custom Sound Variations of VSL Synchron Player not stored in Studio Pro 8?

Hi everyone,

Doing a lot of orchestral stuff, the Attack Compensation is highly appreciated.
The Kontakt libraries, LUX and others let me save an Instrument Preset and every time I open a previous file, the custom made Sound Variations are still there including the Attack Compensation. (I did as Lukas advised in his video about this topic, which works perfect.)

But whatever I'm trying, the Synchron Player ignores the customized Sound Variations. Instead they are replaced by those that come with the instrument (e.g. Duality Strings, Full Ensemble Tutti).
Even without closing Studio Pro, just dragging the saved Instrument Preset to create a new track gives the same result. Needless to say with many VSL tracks this manual reconnecting is tedious and time consuming. Am I the error in front of the computer, or is there a workaround?

The "baked" in SV with a typical Synchron Instrument isn't displayed always – well.

Loading a customized one:

Saving as a new Instrument Preset:

It appears in the "Browser":

The result:
Now, I have an Instrument Preset which ignores what should have been saved with it.
I also tried changing from key switch to activation-sequence and defining a default SV before saving it – all without success.

Please, help me.

Hi,

I tried to reproduce the problems when loading a preset but it actually works fine here. Both renamed variations as well as added attack compensation were correctly recalled.

I tested it with a "normal" instrument preset for Synchron Player (VST3) as well as track presets.

Maybe there are differences between Windows and macOS - or you do different things? Maybe you can post a screen capture video?

Hi Lukas,

I'm doing the absolut exact things! But I'm on macOS, maybe because of this – anyway.

yeah it's a known bug on Mac, I opened a ticket in January but when i asked news in June they told me there has been no movement and it's on their backlog... I stopped asking cause they just keep closing my ticket

Just to mention: Using the "Duplicate Track (complete)" command on a track with a customized Sound Variation Set gives the same result.
It is ignored, too.

The key switches are saved correctly and it is Studio Pro that creates them in the User folder.

Studio Pro on macOS in the current state doesn't save the "customized key switches" of the Synchron Player, neither in an instrument preset nor a track preset. :(

I would appreciate one the devs could chime in ...

This is not a Fender/Presonus forum. It is a user forum hosted by @Lukas

You would need to go the usual ticket route on myfender, if you want to bring it to attention to the devs, or want a reaction from them.

Looks like it's still broken in 8.2?

Now, it is working – can save it – can recall it!

Klasse Leute und nochmals vielen lieben Dank LUKAS! :)🚀🍾🥂

Now, I just have to read about "Note based" & "Direction based" ...

Yes, you're in luck, and your question came just in time, right before the development freeze for version 8.2! I was able to forward your request to the development team, and they managed to include the fix in this release.

Renaming variations still doesn't work reliably on macOS, but all other settings seem to work fine now.

... just watched it – perfect! (y) (Goosebump) lol

not for me unfortunately, while i can save and recall the instrument preset, if i close and reopen the file the sound variations lose the custom map i saved the preset with and replaces it with the automated one again.
I need to go in each track and reload the instrument preset which will then load the custom sound variation map correctly.
Can someone test this on reopening the file?

@ravez : I saved the a song and closed SP8.2. I reopened the file from Finder and ALL is as I left it – nothing lost.
So yes, it works!

thanks, wonder if it's because I am on Golden Gate OS...

If i create a new track and load a synchron preset and look at my sound variations map I don't see any options to edit the map, there should be a "new variation" and "remove" button to make custom maps, right?
Also, if i then load an empty map I saved before and save the instrument preset and then load that preset on a new track it again strips the custom "empty" map and auto-loads the sound variations from the current synchron preset.
