Solved Version 6 to Version 7 Question

As I stated earlier, before I updated my OS from Win 10 to Win 11 version 7 of Studio One gave me various problems. This no longer seems to be the case as I successfully ran an entire project on version 7 without any difficulty, so Win 11 seems to be keeping S1v7 more stable, which I'm grateful for. Now I'm considering bringing the projects I've created in version 6 over to version 7. My question is will doing so change anything in the mix? I did that before I upgraded the OS and I remember it did change a few parameters in the mix. I don't want to attempt to do this before I know whether or not it will change anything but ultimately I would like all my projects to be in the same DAW.

Thanks :)

You can open up a duplicate of the projects in v7, so the original will still be accessible in v6. That way you're sure the transfer is good (or not) for your specific setup in a risk-free way.

How would I go about opening a project in a duplicate? Is there a menu option for that?

Don't think so. I suppose opening in v6 and "save as.." should do the trick.

Correct. ALWAYS do Save As (and never Save) - when a v6 project is open in v7.

If you hit Save - you will forever be using V7 on that project.

I wouldn't mind saving it in V7 if it retained the mix I had in 6. In fact, that's what I'd like to do. Why doesn't 7 retain the parameters in 6?

Thats what Save As will do. Create a v7 copy of the song for you. If the mix works - rock on with this new version.

I have used all seven versions of S1 - and moved many many songs between versions - have never seen one not work.
