Using MIDI Over Network In Studio Pro

I’m using Fender Studio Pro to feed audio to our church’s livestream. I’m trying automate as much as I can with MIDI control through ProPresenter. Muting Busses specifically. That way the proper channels can mute and unmute with a single slide click. I already control lighting and OBS functions this same way. Fender Studio Pro is the only one that’s giving me trouble.

The setup: ProPresenter runs on one Mac and Fender Studio Pro on another. I have a MIDI network setup so the two machines can talk to each other.

I have been successful in controlling Studio Pro with MIDI via a Donner Dmk25 usb keyboard (channel muting, play/pause, record, etc…). However when I follow the same workflow to try and assign MIDI triggers from ProPresenter it doesn’t seem to recognize the commands coming in. I have tried both setting it up as a keyboard and a control surface, and pointed them to the correct MIDI network. When I used the MIDI monitor it sees the commands coming in. But when I used the MIDI learn function the commands don’t register. Does Fender Studio Pro only work with hardware MIDI controllers? Am I just not setting it up properly? Is what I’m trying to do even possible?

I appreciate the help!

I added the info to my signature but I don’t see it.

I had a similar workflow with Gig Performer triggering commands in Studio Pro (Studio One) a couple of years ago. I'm not sure why it does not work on your end.

Did you use MIDI CC messages? These are the only event type that can (easily - from within the program) be mapped to Studio Pro commands.

Don't you have to setup BOME for each device on a MIDI Network on a MAC? I use a MIDI network to control lights from ProPresenter and BOME has to be setup for each command. I wouldn't have a clue on how to set that up for Studio Pro. Maybe I'm wrong...maybe BOME is just needed with VISTA, our lighting program.

Thanks for the help everyone! I got it working and BOME is exactly what I needed. I didn’t realize Studio One required MIDI CC, so I needed to make that conversion.

I never needed BOME because I use Lightkey which communicates directly with ProPresenter on its own MIDI channel and can receive basic MIDI On Notes.

Awesome! Glad I could help! BOME can be a real...pleasure to set up. I hope the sarcasm came thru nice and loud on that one.
