One more tip...for vocal doubling, copy the vocal track before doing pitch correction. Do pitch correction to only one of the tracks, then mix them together. The effect is more randomized than using LFO modulation for ADT. If you sing so in tune that you get flanging and such, then drop the copy by 10 cents or so.
I use Dreamtonics Synth V to create rehearsal mock-ups for rock choir work, and since the change to V2 of that software made pitch control a little more problematic, I use Melodyne to calm some of Synth V's wilder variations. I use exactly the technique you describe to create doubles (and indeed many more voices) and it works a treat.
Way to go!
Another quick tip. While the function buttons in Melodyne differ slightly from Studio One's, things like Alt + drag will enable moving notes. Vertically, or horizontally and avoids any grid control.
Copy and paste also work. Just like in Studio One, just be sure to set the playhead cursor first before pasting.

Is there a way to move notes with up and down or left/right arrows? I've run into unintended shifting of notes when dragging with the mouse. I'm using melodyne essentials in S1 pro. Thank you

I know it's a bit off topic but can you explain that a bit more. I'm a big user of V1 and I'm targeting their next sale to upgrade to V2 (hopefully Black Friday). I've not heard anything about V2 being worse than V1 in some circumstances.

In V1 you have the option of ‘manual’ which takes all except basic pitch information off a note/word. You can then apply your own modifiers to make it sound as you want. In V2 that option is removed, so you have to edit the modulation that the program and voice apply by default. It’s more adaptable and flexible, but it can be quite annoying.
Edit: just to add to that without derailing the thread, some voices have fairly poor pitch control near the extremes of their range when making sustained notes. Manual was an easy way of sorting that out. Now Melodyne is the easy way of doing it, as it's more difficult within Synth V2.
