Unintentional Mono

Running studio One 7 with StudioLive32sc. For no apparent reason, my out put is mono. The master output is stereo , but the monitor output and phones outputs are mono. I was using monitor out for my control room speakers, but switched them to the main output temporarily. I can't find anything in the documentation that refers to mono/stereo for the monitor and phones outputs.

For stereo input on the StudioLive mixers you want to link uneven-even input channels. Otherwise solo'ing (for those channels) will always be mono because solo on inputs is pre-panning. And for stereo/linked input channels you may have to set the width to 100% for stereo to the outputs.

Also note that stereo linked Aux output mixes have their own panning independent from the main mix. The default has all mono inputs centered.

Thanks. I figured it out. Somehow the outputs left and right got linked. I unlinked and everything's fine.

Now it's happening again, and I can't find where it's linked.

Stereo wants to be linked. So on the mixer link Mix Outputs (always odd+even) for stereo from those outputs. On the mixer also link inputs (odd+even) to receive stereo input channels from Studio One. Some mixer inputs are always linked (the two Aux Inputs and the Digital Return input). For stereo linked input channels on the mixer check the panning (now Width): You may have to increase it from 0% (default) to 100% for full stereo spread from those mixer inputs to the mixer's outputs.

The exception for linking is when you send a mono source (like a vocal mic) as a mono channel to the mixer. In that case use an unlinked input channel on the mixer and adjust that input's panning to place the source somewhere between left and right.
