Third-Party Plugin GUIs Lagging in Studio One

All of you with the lag issues: what screen resolution do you use? What kind of connection? What is the monitor native resolution and what scaling do you use? Which exact plug-ins?
I have an Mini M4 Pro here with a 4K screen with tons of VST3 plug-ins but I never had this issue, even when I had a 2nd monitor attached a few times.

My resolution is 3360x1890 through a Thunderbolt port directly from my Mac Studio to my monitor.

The blue Softube compressor (Tube-Tech CL 1B Mk II) meter is also terribly laggy in Studio One.

I only use VST3 plugins, no AU.

I’ve noticed that the GUIs of third-party plugins, such as Waves and others, are lagging and stuttering in Studio One.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I have. For quite some time now. I did some testing and can reproduce the issue 100 %. I know what triggers it. Or at least, I know one action that triggers it consistently.

Some 3rd party plugins are not affected.

Are you still active on the forum? Let me know.

I'm working on a video that might help us understand the issue better.

I haven't seen this - I use Superior Drummer, Line 6 Helix Native, EZ Keys, and Roland Cloud amongst others. All seem to work fine. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi @Gary Shepherd , since your specs looks quite similar to mine and you're even running a 5k monitor like me (not that I think it matters), could you take a look at my video and see if you can reproduce the issue, please? The visible VCA is the core concern.

I tried it but not getting that issue - although I don't have that plugin I tried several others with VU meters etc on a drum audio track and did the VCA thing - but no visible difference. I have to confess I don't really use VCA's so I would not have noticed anything previously. Sorry - worth a try.

Waves plugin GUI's all work great for me. No lag. Whether VCA is inserted or not

Consider contacting Waves support. They've always been great at solving obscure OS-related problems for me.

One advantage with Waves plugins is that so many people use them, their support people have encountered just about every problem imaginable on any OS.

Thanks for giving it a shot. The stuttering is not only for VU meters. It's a general animation issue. Some plugins like Slate Trigger is really badly affected. All of its knobs and faders are frozen in place for several seconds at a time and the analyzer window shows severe stuttering.

Btw. I don't use and have no Waves plugins installed.

I've had this on windows 11..I had an Intel display adapter on the motherboard and Nvidea card, latest drivers and BIOS.

I wasn't really using the Intel adapter, I disabled it in device manager, instantly a big "click" happened, everything sped up and all was well. Effected more than one DAW.

I could have just as easily disabled it in the BIOS.
