Hey Fellas...So all of a sudden I can't seem to create a midi clip by double clicking on an instrument track...AND I can't move (OR Edit) an existing midi clip that was already in the session ...AND I can't click on an empty space to enable the cursor ....(yes "locate when clicked in an empty space is enabled ") I have to click in the ruler to set the cursor....Tried rebooting , re-installing , same issue...any ideas ? (Latest S1-7 version on Mac Studio running sequoia 15.3) Thanks in advance !!

Hey Drumstar2112, Looks like we have the same issue. Check out my message just before yours

Would need to see a screencap of your "locked" screen to see exactly what (AND where) you are clicking etc.

Its not just the cursor issue...I can't insert a midi clip by double clicking on an instrument track , nor can I move ( or edit) existing midi clips in the session ...its like it "froze up" on me (though it will still play back fine ) ....deleted the S1 folder ( in application support folder ) reinstalled, same issue....totally out of the blue .

Well - until you show us what it is you are clicking, where you are clicking and so on - no one can know what is going on.

One thing is for sure - S1 cannot suddenly just stop you from adding a MIDI clip - all by itself.

I agree - something is clearly going on - but you will need to help us out here.

As I said above, I can confirm the issue on my Windows 11 laptop

when I click on that midi clip , nothing happens , I cant move it , I can't open it to edit it , nothing ...nor can I "insert" a midi clip but clicking in the instrument track like I normally do...(I can hit record and it will create a midi clip that way if I wanna play it in but that's it )

And I can't confirm on my Window 10 workstation. All normal.

Again - something is going on with you two (oddly - at the exact same time) - so until someone can clarify with a screencap or two - we are stabbing in the dark here.

Let's compare...On my Windows 11 laptop I can load an older file with existing MIDI events on the Instrument track. The only way I can select the MIDI event in the instrument track is to press CTRL-Left Mouse. Can you do that on your MAC (Option-Left Mouse)?

This (Bend Tool):

is really not going to help.

Get your selection tools back to icons 1+2

Wow! Somehow my Bend tool was selected and I have no idea how that happened. I reset the tool to the "arrow" tool and now it works. I can now select the MIDI event in the Instrument track. What a coincidence that two of us had the same issue pretty much at the same time!!!😲😲😲

dude you're a freaking rockstar lol....in all my years of using S1 I've never used that tool ....boy is my face red lol...thanks again buddy !!!

Happy Holidays to you and yours. Edit on.

Yes!!! I have NEVER used that bend tool either. Never would have figured it out. Thanks Vocalpoint!!

OK, I just figured part of this problem out!! I had reset the tool to the arrow "select tool", played around with Studio One and everything worked OK. Then all of a sudden Studio One reset the selection tool to the bend tool all by itself. I think that is the culprit! Why does it do that? Once I reset it AGAIN to the selection tool everything works fine. I suspect that there is a glitch in Studio One that somehow resets the tool automatically to the "Bend" tool.

Need to read up on this:

Most likely - your Alternate is not set to where you need it to be...

Or your default tools are not set right to begin with.

VP

But the question is why does it switch to the alternate tool? I don't think I am pressing anything that will cause that to happen. I never use the CTRL key or the numbers on my laptop. This never happened until two or three days ago.

Make a screen recording while you're working. Then when you notice the tool has changed, you can check your screen video and see if you've clicked or pressed anything wrong.

When you open the Keyboard Shortcut window, it will show you the last used shortcut (+ command). This can help find accidentally assigned key commands.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that Lukas:)
