Studio Pro and Atom Controller Problem

InLight-Tone

New member
Hi all, I recently upgraded to Fender Studio 8.03 from Studio One and am having a problem with my Atom controller and Impact.
If I drag in an impact, the Atom does nothing, all pads are white so none of the drum map info is getting to it.
If I press and hold the Setup button, the 3 pads that let you choose Drum Mode, Keyboard Mode, Mardi gras are all unlit and do nothing.
I have updated the firmware just in case and nada.
Any hints on getting this functioning?
Thanks!

Check the device setup in Studio Pro for Atom, input and output (receive/send). Make sure you are on the latest universal control version V5.

Thanks for replying!
Everything is setup correctly.
I did NOT have Universal Control 5, so updated but nothing has changed.
Here's the weird thing.
I made a template that had an instance of Impact in it, and if I load that track and then an Impact kit Atom works.
BUT, if I load say a Kontakt kit, the Atom does not change to Instrument mode.
Frustrating...

Same here. All is fine in SO 7.2.3 but not in FSP 8.0.3. Atom SQ Pads are white and not working. This really sucks and i am hoping for an update soon.

Thanks for the confirmation! Is there anywhere to place a support ticket like Presonus had? I mean I want one of those new Motion controllers but would like to use the Atom till they are released.

Maybe it`s exactly what Fender would like to provocate(?),who knows. I mean they look fine but i`m not totally happy with the atom sq but i dont have this kind of space here at home and i`m still more into mouse and keyboard. I use it but i`m not a power user cause it`s a bit to complicated for me to learn. I think i need just knobs and keys and I´m still a bit disappointed that Atom SQ can`t finetune Faders and Knobs like you do using the mouse while holding down the shift-key. I don`t know why it is but it sucks.

Of course there should be a ticket system at fender but i hav`nt used it so far. I just used PreSonus but not for the Atom cause i`ve seen a thread a while ago about non working Atom SQ with 8.0.1. i think.

Sure:

I see colors on the SQ. Make sure the SQ is selected as the input device AND enable monitoring. The colors toggle on/off with monitor on/off

It is. As I said with SO7 everythings working fine but not in FSP8. Once i start with a new Song in FSP8 it is working as it should but not with a song that is beeing worked on. I don?t know whats wrong.

Both ATOM and ATOM SQ working normally for me in Studio Pro 8. After you have created an instrument track make sure even after you input monitor you must select it in the input source list also. Unless you have got ALL INPUTS selected but I tend to not do it that way but rather select the actual input source directly. ALL INPUTS can set up some strange midi input behaviour at times.

I missed the about it being a problem with prior version songs. I'll see what mine does when I get a chance

If I open up an old song in Studio Pro 8 and create an instrument track, ATOM and ATOM SQ work fine for me.

Same here. Load SO7 song into FSP8, add Impact track, monitor, SQ lights in color

Please explain the difference between working in a new FSP8 song and not working in a song that is being worked on.

What is your Atom firmware version? I think mine is 3.57

Hi Bob, sorry I`m bit late here. Atom SQ is not working with the Instrument instances in FSP8 if you load a Project, that has been imported from older versions. It is only working on new added instrument Tracks.

Mine Atom SQ Firmware is v1.17. Universal Control can`t find a newer one. I`m using the Universal Control v5.0.0.100112. This one should be the latest.

Does "Not working" mean colors, or that nothing about the SQ is working?

The OP started talking about ATOM and then we have moved onto ATOM SQ. They are two very different things. Yes ATOM SQ firmware is at 1.17 currently. My SQ lights up with the keys white and the octave keys should be blue.

All are Pads are white and don`t react if you press on them. Midi Focus shows Atom SQ as connected device and even turning the knobs are showing as detected/changing values.
