Studio Pro 8 cue mix

From my other thread I am now using my new Harrison Flex 10 interface.I have my main audio monitors coming out of the main L/R and my second pair of monitors coming out of ALT3/4.I created a cue mix so both pairs are fed audio because I toggle between both sets non stop when I am mixing.Now my second pair via the cue mix my solo and mute buttons do not work.........only if i'm on the mains do they work.I have never created a cue mix in Studio one the 10 years I have been using it.Google sez under advanced options-console there is a tick box to check for having the cue follow the main to get my mute/solo working again.I do not have that option listed.All I want is my cue to mimic my mains and for 2 hours now I have gotten nowhere with this.HELP!

I do not have that option tick box.My console tab does not have that option.

That's odd for sure. I assume your on latest version. Could it possibly have anything to do with
the size of your Monitor (resolution)? Hope you get it sorted. Sounds like Support Ticket time if not

I have been eyeballing that Mackie Big Knob.......the passive one.Not only as a monitor controller but it also does a lot of other things that would really come in handy for me.Only problem is some of the reviews are scary.Some say its reliability is crap and only lasts 1-2 years.Others say it colors your speakers in a bad way which is 100% a no no for me.Very confusing.

I checked it out some. Pretty interesting for sure. On one review the person claimed when listening at higher
volumes it could affect the sound (like you mentioned) I like the mix around 82-84 db. If it worked ok at that volume I would be Interested if I needed something like that. I should really set up a dual monitor system Sounds like you use
the dual system quite a bit

Hm...I've never thought about using cue mixes as speaker selectors, but it's definitely odd that you don't have the "Cue mix mute follows channel" option. You don't see this?

That aside, I've always done it with a hardware controller of some kind. I used the Big Knob for a while years back and I thought it was fine.

Yeah, cue mixes are there for all the reasons you want them to be different from the main mix. Hardware switching is the obvious choice for speaker A/B'ing. Speaking of which: There are keyboard/macro shortcut hooks for Speaker A, Speaker B and Speaker C in S1/SP, for controlling compatible PreSonus interface/monitor systems. Worth a little search for models and eBay offers...

I find it easier to create a mixbus before the master which is the default output for all tracks. Then run a send from that channel to whatever speaker combos you want by selecting the hardware outs. You can then control the outputs to A/B via the 'outputs' on the FSP mixer, and also add any console shaper to that mixbus so that it goes to each output.

Depending on how you have things setup, Cue Mixes don't always include the FX Busses which is something to be mindful of.

Wish FSP had something similar to Control Room in Cubase where you can do all this very simply.

Well I am a moron.All I had to do was scroll down a little after seeing your pic and Cue mix follows channel was there and I ticked it.My problem lately is I don't wear my glasses while on my computer.Gonna start now.Thanks for that pic!

There is no way the Mackie Big Knob colours the sound. That is a load of rubbish. It's passive! Meaning there is no electronics involved. The only issue is whether there is enough signal level at full volume to drive your monitors but it will usually be the case that there is plenty of level. You actually want the full range of the knob to control the level anyway. (As long as the interface is sending at least +4 dBu at its outputs)

The good thing about the Big Knob is you won't need Studio One in order to switch between both sets of speakers. But the Big Knob may not allow you to hear both at once. If you want that.

I have got the Presonus Monitor Controller V2 and highly recommend it. But it probably does way more than you need. It does allow for multiple sets of speakers to be on at once though. Plus the headphone outputs are also great too. They are loud and high quality.

So I will keep the Big knob cranked and use my Flex 10's main L/R volume knob to control the volume and switch between speaker sets with the Big knob.I am also going to hook up my second laptop to the Big knob's source inputs so it can use my pair of studio monitors also.It will be a very useful tool for 69 clams.The deal I got also includes 4-5' Hosa TRS cables for free and they cost $15 each.I have no clue how they profit off this deal but here it is for proof.......smokin deal!

That thing is killer for sure. It is way more than I need at the moment. If I do go with multiple monitors
at some point I will look hard at this unit. Thanks for the heads up!!
