Studio One Pro Update Releases?

[•••] Throw me some bug fixes, refine some features, introduce a couple new workflow enhancements, and I'll be happy. I'm still not using 100% of what the program already offers. But I'm trying 🤔
Count me in on this side of the camp!

Well ... it seems that they have been busy. But with something else:

Fender Studio? That’s basically just a stripped-down version of Studio One.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Studio One ends up being called Fender Studio Pro in the future.

Here we go round the mulberry bush.... 🎶

When Papa Bear says "jump", you don't ask, "how high?"

Hmmm, in a way, that could be a good thing. It's basically inevitable, and more importantly, a Fender Studio would keep the AI qritique buttons the heck out of Studio One. But hey, ........ that's just my opinion.

Seems the Fender CEO still couldn't get on with the results of his last request about dumbing down the Studio One startup Page. So Fender Studio is now more his speed. 😉. Hey folks, let's write a song!
Ehm...... yeah.

From a marketing pov, sounds like a good idea!

Just out of curiosity, what's the problem? I render EventFX all the time without issues, so I must be missing something about waht you're saying.
Every few times I render EventFX, the session is broken. Only the first ten or so tracks play after an EventFX is rendered. Meaning after an EventFX is rendered, usually only drums and bass play. Happened intermittently in previous versions but is happening with more frequency since the latest version came out in Feb. It happened to me pretty consistently yesterday. I took a video of it happening twice to send to a fellow user to confirm he is experiencing the same issue. I tried to tie it to specific plugins, but it seems to happen across every plugin and with or without ARA. Trying to pinpoint the reasons it happens, what leads up to it, and what can be done, before I submit something. But I've seen people say similar things on Reddit and various forums, so I know it's not just something my colleague and I are doing. Once I pinpoint it a bit better, I'll post a thread here.

That wasn't me ... that was Zikax ;-)
Thanks, stanft, I adjusted. Whew, I could have had to bail you out of DAW prison. 😆
My bad.

Sometimes I'm wondering what's the purpose of those applications is. Why would you have a guitar with you in the middle of nowhere, so that your phone would be mandatory to record something?

The built in recorder is already enough if you have an idea in mind that you want to save.
I get the reasoning behind an app like this to be honest. I would assume it's aimed more at people with less DAW experience but want to record ideas on the fly with minimal config (i.e. plug in, pick one of the amps and record).

Fair enough - the app is certainly free - but to "plug in" - you have to buy this I/O dongle to allow you to actually do anything - if recording to your phone is the thing.

And here it is - complete with some slightly eye popping pricing (granted its CDN dollars for me - but still):

This appears to be a vehicle to sell I/O dongles in the end.

Might be better to add another 30 bucks and upgrade to Studio One :)

Yeah, there is no use here for you and I, but i know plenty of guitar players who don't have the first clue about loading up a DAW let alone figuring out the specifics to record in it. If all they want to do is plug in, hit record and get an idea down then i don't see anything bad regarding something like this

Yep - as long as you can stomach the cost of the dongle - rock on I say.

Now - back to our foot tapping, patience sapping experience - waiting for the next Studio One Feature Drop....

No, not sure why you think that.

You can use any mobile-compatible audio interface.

Well - I am thinking that because no where do I see any indicators that any other interface will work.

If they do - great. But I think Fender really wants a user to buy that Link IO.

So, I guess we need a new topic to discuss the still missing Studio One update as this topic has been moved to the lounge...

Yes please. And - I see that Fender Studio now has it's own board on the forums (nice!) so all discussion on it can be centralized over there now

All I am really interested in is what is going on with Studio One and the next Feature Drop.

...with very little showing after almost 8 months

To be fair, the 7.1 release was about 4 months ago. Also to be fair, not all of the updates in 7.1 would be of interest to all users. Personally, I like Cinematic Lights, the Note Editor workflow changes, the Impact improvements, and the ability to render buses. But if you don't feel you need more instruments, don't use the Note Editor much, and don't need to render buses, it wouldn't offer you much aside from bug fixes.

In October, it will be possible to get a better sense of whether the pace of previous updates justifies another £150 for future updates.

I was actually sorta surprised at how cheap it is? Is $119 expensive to be able to record on your phone? I’m so far removed from this but figured it would be $149+.

It's $119 Canadian - for us, it's an $80, pocket sized, USB-C audio interface that supports 24bit/96Khz straight into any device, and even has a built in amp simulator so you can plug a guitar right into it. WTF are we even complaining about...

Back to Studio One, I think we all agree that bug fixes NEED to be the highest priority for the upcoming updates. I hope that the next patch focuses on robustness and performance with current hardware and devices, as well as the few pestering bugs that have been lingering for WAY too long. Feature-wise, S1 is still at the top of the heap, and while a few quality of life improvements would be welcome, they won't matter much if the program does not address the stability issues that are taking so long to be addressed.

Given the cost of similar doodads and the fact that it really does just this one thing - should be more like $49-$59 in 2025.

However - as it always the case - the market will ultimately decide if this is a good price (or not).

Especially for the US market with the "tariff" thing hanging over everyone down there.
