Studio One Losing Focus Mapping

I love S1's support for creating focus controller mappings for all my soft synths, and automatically loading those setting when the synth is in focus. What I loathe is S1's persistent ability to randomly lose all those mappings. It's soul-crushing to lose the hours of work required to map dozens of synths to my controllers.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to backup the mapping files by hand? I use the Presonus/Studio One 7 backup feature every time I make a major change to my setup, and it says it's backing up 'external devices'... but apparently not the mappings. (Which seems cruel, since it's one of the most time-consuming user settings we would definitely want to back up).

(One final note: which searching up possible solutions, most of the results pointed back to the old Studio One community responses... now all wiped out and unavailable rather than placed in a read-only state. I'm mystified why Presonus would so casually destroy over a decade of community wisdom. Someone asked a question about losing focus mappings in the official support area... for S1 FOUR. Unsurprisingly, the question was never answered. Sorry for my tone, I'm a little frustrated.)

After some searching, on my m1 Mac, the device mappings are saved at: /Users/username/Library/Application Support/PreSonus/Studio One 7/Surface Data[1]. I've set up an incremental backup of that folder (so if Studio One updates the file with empty settings the good stuff won't be overwritten), so at the very worst I'd just have to copy the correct files back over. I'll have to do some testing, as it might be that it's Atom SQ settings that are having issues, maybe due to something going wrong with its tight integration. My settings for other devices, like my MK3 mini seem more durable...

Hi Tovokas, I'm wondering if you've had good luck with your Focus mapping backups? Has this solved the problem of 'not losing your work? ...and, if yes, have you ever had to recover a 'lost map', and if yes, how do you do that?
Separately, are you aware of any deep background on the focus/global mapping topic ...(other than the manual, which I have open all the time). An issue I'm trying to figure out is that I have a control-surface (LaunchControl XL MkII), and a S88 MKIII keys-controller... and for plugins with many parameters...(like Fender/PreSonus Groove Delay for example) I have enough knobs/buttons/sliders on the 2 controllers to map every parameter to a physical control. The parameters mapped to the LaunchControl are focus-controls, but the ones mapped to the S88 are global. I want them all to be focus-controls. This may not be possible, or I may be approaching it incorrectly, or I may have something set wrong ...or it could be a combination of factors. WHERE to find the information that could give factual, accurate instructions, warnings, or even ...can or can't be done (whichever is correct) ...I'd love to find that info if you happen to know were to look. I hope all is well in your world. R.
