Solved Sound Sets or just Presets?

hey

still getting my head around Sound Sets to see if they can further enhance my workflow

got a question:

do you actually use them daily and, when organized properly, proved to be a better option over your custom preset library?

The idea is to have a Sound Set of say

ACOUSTIC PERCUSSION
Instrument Presets
- Hand Percussion
- Sticks
MusicLoops Presets
- MIDILoops
FX Presets
- Compression
- Reverbs
- Delay

etc.... just imagine anything music production wise, you might need for a category like Acoustic Percussion but all in one place.

I'm currently building one but was wondering if you've already done yours and if you find them useful or an overkill (give how easy it is to store-organize presets in Studio One.

I don't see much point in making a soundset just for your own use. Sure, it ends up as a neat single file but you can't unpack soundsets so you'd still have to keep a copy of everything that went into one so you might as well have those files in the S1 browser instead. And every time you want to add something or edit the contents you'd have to build the whole soundset again. It would probably add to your admin rather than reduce it.

I'd actually love to be able to unpack the factory soundsets and then reorganise the stuff into folders that would make make more sense to me. For example, I'd organise everything by instrument rather than genre, especially the drum loops. I know why they don't want us to unpack stuff but it doesn't stop me wanting to do it!

thank you all.

Makes sense and given how well designed S1 is I'll just keep storing presets of both instrument and FX chains. The fact I can quickly create new folders from the browser is a God send and such a tiny clever option .

I tend to agree - I use Track Presets with a Menu on the toolbar mostly - but presumably this means you can share the Soundsets with others?
