Settings folder discussion

I've just mapped Arturia ACID V plugin to ATOM SQ Controls.

Where is the data stored for this please in Windows/Studio Pro?

Best I could work out looking at timestamps was in the settings folder:

Surface Data[1]\PreSonus UCNET Remote.factory.surfacedata

I couldn't find it there and I think I'm wrong. It's not in the ATOM SQ surface data file either.

Any ideas please?

C:\Program Files\Fender\Studio Pro 8\devices\PreSonus\ATOM\ATOM SQ

C:\Program Files\Fender\Studio Pro 8\devices\PreSonus\ATOM\ATOM SQ

No dice.
I looked at all the files in that folder.
I saw no custom mappings for Arturia ACID V plugin, and the file time stamps were all the same.

My guess is that it is most likely hiding out somewhere in the Arturia branches.

Just because its a map to SP8 - does not mean that data needs to be managed by Sp8.

I'm using Control Link:

I have only limited experience so my comment is a bit vague (or even wrong).

If you're using the settings from the provided device selection then your options are limited. Knobs/buttons/pads that are already mapped can't be remapped. (It's mentioned in the manual if I remember correctly.)

But if you create your own device (like I did with my simple/old AKAI Mini) then you can map it to your liking and a separate surface data file is created. You could copy parts of the text/code from the Fender/PreSonus file into that one and create a custom mixture but it's on the advanced side of customization (especially for ATOM controllers that I don't own) and I never tried it.

There is the option to set an accelerated curve via the Macro control page see pic below...
YMMV, just depends if you are after a fast linear or just fast. but could be useful if you set it so that the balistic slows at the sweet spot.
Anyway hope this helps.

Edit: info posted in the wrong place

Kind regards, hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses however they are on the wrong thread. This one is about where data is stored (most likely the settings folder) so it can be manually edited or inspected. I am aware of how to edit config files.

The other one is about controllers knobs and how to change their sensitivity .

I split it up over two threads to avoid confusion. Guess I failed! :)

My question still remains as below:

I assumed you were trying to get something to affect the way the controller was impacting upon the plugin, and misunderstood as you referenced the reason you were looking to edit a control script when alternatives in FP are available...

Sorry I couldn't help, regards

Help menu -> Open Settings Folder, then locate the Surface Data[1] subfolder.
I always forget there is a menu item provided ;)

It's not there. My original post should have posted that exact path (surfacedata) but somehow I screwed up.

I'll check again.

OK, so

C:\Users\posti\AppData\Roaming\Fender\Studio Pro 8\Surface Data[1]\PreSonus ATOM SQ.factory.surfacedata

C:\Users\posti\AppData\Roaming\Fender\Studio Pro 8\Surface Data[1]\PreSonus UCNET Remote.factory.surfacedata

Does not contain any info on the Arturia ACID V plugin I mapped with control link with Atom SQ.
None of the files in this folder have any mapped controller data for this plugin.

This only seems to be available for effects and not softsynths. Thanks...

OK so
C:\Users\posti\AppData\Roaming\Fender\Studio Pro 8\Surface Data[1]\PreSonus ATOM SQ.factory.surfacedata
C:\Users\posti\AppData\Roaming\Fender\Studio Pro 8\Surface Data[1]\PreSonus UCNET Remote.factory.surfacedata

Question - is this mapping sustained across any song at any time? If so - this imply a central store.

This could be stashed in any one of the many *.settings files that are scattered within this area:

AppData\Roaming\Fender\Studio Pro 8

You would need to examine each of these custom xml files.

Over here I make copies of each (Many of these are very easy to ruin with a non-standard viewer) and view in Visual Studio Code - so you can see what's going on.

Notepad++ does the job for me as it has a small footprint. Anyway no joy so far.
