Search for an ADAT out interface to run parallel with ADAT outs on an 1824c and get sent to an interface with 2 ADAT ins.

Like the title says, what would you use. I could go for something with lots of inputs. I just looked pretty deeply at the old Presonus Mic preamp mixer called the Digimax FS. Being as it's not an interface I was not sure what to think about it. Anyone got any other suggestions? Are there specifically any Presonus interfaces that would work well here? I don't know what it would be like running 2 1824c in parallel like that.

I have maxed out my 16 ins on an 1824C and the input interface that is why I am looking for a 2nd interface with ADAT out. What would you go with?

Hmm, what you want may not be possible, to have an ADAT audio interface take ADAT input from one device and send ADAT output to another. Everything will have to be on the same clock where you could end up with 2 captains on the ship.

No I don't want to take adat and run it thru anything. I'm just looking for an ADAT to run parallel to an ADAT that is going into an interface with two ADAT ins. So I have an extra ADAT in and thinking of a 2nd ADAT to go into it.

I have the typical interface with two ADAT ins. One will be the 1824c. Looking for a good option for the 2nd one.

I have used a Behringer ADA8200 for this application in the past.

I looked that up it looks like a good cheap option for about $250. As a preamp mixer it just became the top on my list so thanks. I did see one in listings for sale a Behringer ADA 8000 which AI tells me is not as good quality as the 8200.

However I am leaning more toward an interface because there are so many more USB audio instruments Roland TR 8S MC 707, TD 27 or TD 50, or Waldorf Kyra, or Yamaha or Elektron options for example that I can route in Windows thru ADAT only using USB connected interfaces with visible software outputs to route to the ADAT outs.

I was surprised by the ADA8200. It’s a handy little tool to have laying around regardless, especially for the price. The 8000, like you noted, isn’t great. But I grabbed an 8200 for $129 scratch / dent on sweetwater and while I only use it in emergencies, it’s been a useful tool to have around.

I have a really bonkers little ADAT tool, and while I’m not 100% what you are going for, it has helped me out when I need to route multiple ADAT signals bit perfect to different destinations. Again, not sure if this is what you are looking for, but look up the Z Systems 8-8.a. I can route one ADAT signal into it and send it six places at once. Might be not useful for your application, but the box is awesome for me.

I don't believe that Windows supports running two different USB interfaces at the same time. I think Macs do, but you said that you're on Windows. So...you need to expand your I/O through a single audio interface. Even my $1400 RME Fireface UCX II only supports adding one 8-channel ADAT expansion like the Behringer ADA8200.

Oh I misread it. My interface has four sets of ADAT inputs and four sets of outputs, for a total of 32 tracks from ADAT. Counting the SPDIF and analog, I get 32 tracks of IO from the thing and it works great with Studio One. Metric Halo ULN-8 mkIV.

No I plug in 3 interfaces in Windows. You can do it, u just got to arrange things well. I use 3 Presonus interfaces (1824, Quantum HD8 and Audiobox 96) and rock all the Midis, and all the ins to my OBS and Oscilloscopes at once. The ADAT also will bring in the 1824 to Studio One. Windows will see all ins you attatch thru USBs. The Audio Engine of a DAW will only see one interface in Windows. The OBS program will see all the ins that Windows has available.

Have not picked up a 2nd ADAT out interface or mixer yet. Maybe someday when I get more synths. Would need an 8 channel if I got something like a Third Wave or Waldorf Kyra or a real good set of electronic drums with 8 or more output audios just to bring it all in on separate tracks. Purely speculative at this point as I have none of that.
