S1 3.5 - Range selection tool doesn't select whole events

Hello! Hans here from Germany!

I work with Studio One 3.5.6 and something has changed recently when I want to select single event areas on tracks via the range tool:

In "former times" I just had to draw a rectangle encompassing or cutting the events I wanted to select, and always the events as a whole were selected; at the same time clear spaces were not highlighted. Now when I draw the rectangle, it (1) only selects part of events and cuts them, and (2) the whole rectangle is hightlighted.

I hope this was understandable.

My previous versions go back from 8 to 2. I'll check if there is a difference on 3.5.6 in how you mentioned, which I believe was the last v3 release and see if there is any difference.

Hi Hans,

If you want to select events instead of creating a range selection, you need to use the Arrow Tool, not the Range Tool.

In your screenshot, I can see that you have activated the bracket, which links the Arrow Tool and the Range Tool. With this setting, the tool creates a range selection if you start dragging in the upper half of the track, and a "normal" event selection if you start dragging in the lower half.

So in your case the solution would be to start dragging in the lower half of the track to create your selection or, alternatively, deactivate the bracket.
